Kristal. Which mountaineer wouldn't want to visit it in these beautiful winter days. Ivo and Darko responded to my invitation and yesterday we together completed this magnificent tour. Those responsible for the road closure Planica-Tamar didn't prevent us , at least a small plus is that the Hut in Tamar was open. In the morning we didn't need headlamps, in the evening yes, since sitting in the hut by the stove is real pleasure. Among thirteen hikers there were only two skiers, to the glacier entrance it was possible even without crampons. Interesting, how in the morning snow clumps, ice pieces, and even some pebbles were shooting down the glacier, in the afternoon like walking in another world, everything was calm. The glacier itself is not demanding and it was possible to ascend quickly on it, disturbed only by the aforementioned projectiles, which also luckily weren't as big and dangerous as in March or April. The most demanding part of the tour is definitely from the saddle to the ridge, since you mustn't make even the smallest mistake in walking. Snow was everywhere just right hard, and there was enough of it that walking was pleasure, the cables were visible altogether two meters, the ridge is much easier, only at one place you drop a bit under it, where difficulty and danger are again considerably greater. On the summit I stayed more than half an hour, enjoyed fantastic views, there was no wind even as a sample, and most importantly, I photographed and snacked without gloves, it was so warm. Descent required even more concentration, sun was slowly descending, glacier again acted like refrigerator. Below it I swapped ice axe for poles, crampons I had on boots to the Hut, since there was just right snow. In the morning we left the car at minus eight, in the evening when we arrived to it, it was again -8°C.
