Since in the lowlands nothing encouraging, in mountains always something interesting despite sour weather. It prompted me to go to Kamnik Saddle. At the hut in Kamniška Bistrica morning only 7.5°C. Road to Jermanca drivable, despite two bigger deeper bumps on bends and sprinkled with new gravel. Transversal to saddle mostly dry. Cross only short snowfields, which can be avoided if desired but not downhill! Today only little visit up top, hut closed. Fogs persisted most of the time up top, but for moments I caught what is around me. Lp-Roknasmeh

I'm interested in starting points from Kamnik Saddle.

Is it possible to reach Skuta too?

Is any of these mountains also in the logbook of the Slovenian Mountain Trail?

If you look at the map, it will be clear. Otherwise you can reach Skuta too - the path is very demanding

Good day, could someone advise me how I could acquire the knowledge I need in the mountains. I'm kind of a beginner and think it would benefit me.

Mountaineering clubs organize mountaineering courses (in dry and winter conditions). For schedules it's best to browse the clubs' websites a bit.

You can also join some experienced hiker who's going on that trip.

Before starting serious (technically or fitness-demanding) hikes, I recommend starting with easier peaks and shorter outings, there are tons of them e.g. in the foothills.

I join Gabi's answer. It will help to read some book on behavior in the mountains (Jani Bele: Towards the Peaks, Pavle Šegula: Dangers in the Mountains, also in guidebooks in the intro you always find basic instructions for hiking in the mountains). Start with smaller goals and you'll gradually progress in knowledge and fitness.

BojanGams:

I started alone without extra alpinist experience and without mountaineering clubs.
But I stick to the principle of gradual altitude gain, choosing only easier paths at the start etc.
Next year I'll go on demanding paths.
This year I've already been to about 10 peaks around 2000m.
This year I'll also go to Grintovec (easier path, but apparently strenuous at least for me, with 112kg/177cm).
I'll go to Triglav too.

Last time I did this path to Kamnik Saddle, thought of going to Brana too, but it was foggy so I turned back.

Today chosen path Okrešelj - Kamnik Saddle - Brana, but conditions were quite wintry, so last stop was Kamnik Saddle, where we could warm up by the stove and friendly hutkeeper. Didn't feel like going to the top anymore, as I think bad weather doesn't let you experience the mountain properly, and we know it anyway - I mean Brana. Looks like winter is at the mountain's doorstep.
Nice regards and safe steps.

Today I went towards the snowy saddle, with the aim to gain some fitness, took the paraglider just for ballast. Forecast was strong north wind though. But it turned to nice weather, no wind, great company at the saddle, and I didn't have to carry the paraglider down (on foot), but it carried me. Hi!

Can anyone tell me what the conditions are like on the path to Kamnik Saddle? Is the path at all suitable these days for someone without much winter ascent experience? Are crampons and good fitness enough?
I really want to hike this path in winter too, but I'm not sure if I'm up to it..

Thanks in advance.

regards

G.

For now the path is passable without crampons and ice axe, as most of the snow has melted.

Is Kamniško meant from K. Bistrica or from Okrešlj?

Today I was at Kamniško sedlo. Went from Kamniška Bistrica. Weather pleasantly warm, only at the top it really blew. Almost no snow anymore, but still some patch there, which can be bypassed.
