Hi. Can someone please tell me what the conditions are for skiing from Kredarica to Mali polje (in Krma)? Last week, when I was up there on foot, it seemed to me that due to the too soft snow I would hit the ground too many times. Has the snow hardened at all?

Boots or skis, that was the dilemma this morning. Boots won. In Krma the gritted road pleasantly surprised me. Thanks. The track is now of course nicely made. From Ulc towards Kredarica it occasionally gets covered by snow carried by the wind. Snow of all kinds: from powder to soft and hard crust. The rockfall from Kredarica that I noticed last week has enriched the snow with quite a bit of rocky debris, which can cause additional scraping under the skis. Today there were at least three with skis up there and cca. 20 hikers. Skiing in my opinion is possible to Mali Polje, I noticed ski tracks even on Vrtača and some even among the bushes lower down, but there it's already a bit too many rocks and stones for my taste. In the coming days I'll come with skis.

What's the path like for hikers, crampons ice axe?

I used 6-point crampons going up, because it's more "comfy" for me than without crampons. Actually crampons and ice axe weren't necessary today. But conditions can of course change very quickly ...

You can see Santa has connections up there, since yesterday was a gorgeous day. At half past seven in the morning it was -7 degrees in Krma, but temperature rose with altitude. Not much snow either, so the ascent was quite pleasant, except the last 10 minutes before the hut, when a cold north wind blew in. Unusually few visitors, as pepe already noted, we mostly met them only on descent. I checked out that fresh rockfall a bit. To the right of the winter path over Kalvarija a huge rock slab broke off in the south wall of Kredarica, which due to large boulders might somewhat hinder ski tourers.

I had arranged with the group for a new goal today but due to their health (their smart decision nasmeh

, don't go if health is a problem) I decided to visit Kredarica from Krma, I went at my own pace, to the top without crampons and ice axe as it warmed up on the slopes to +15°C, snow became southern and so I didn't need crampons, just below Kredarica a helicopter starts taking off, so I hurried to at least make a picture, at Kredarica I was there a good half hour and watched a couple of hikers on ascent/descent from Mali Triglav, descent from Kredarica was fun and fast.

they say there is not much snow, in reality there is quite a lot

you can't even get hold of it, half a meter back and you can slip

, when I'm old this will all be built up to Triglav and a cable car, I hope not

Nothing to add, today at Kredarica one could see many people and many things. Some pics are fitting anyway, maybe the Rjavina pic will help a bit. Nice, nice, nice day. nasmeh

I turned around for a long time, but it finally worked.

This is not a domestic animal, but there was one at Kredarica too

A mountain lover fell by here :) The path to the saddle is not trodden.

Farewell to Očak. But only for a day or so.

Today finally took skis instead of dog (of course as always max wide 99cm). Road to Krma worse and worse ice rink, sand sprinkled before Christmas mostly gone. Parking at end almost full at 6:20. Processions rolling to Kredarica. Ski down to valley pretty good, from Kredarica went quite straight down (see pic, otherwise pic from Sunday) elsewhere too much snow missing. Sunny slopes mushy, shady dry snow. Occasionally scraped on rocks hidden under snow. Through gully (where procession on pic, this one today's) was poetry. Across Ulce already so skied that moguls forming. On traverse right to Prgarca already real mush. Still much snow missing, rocks under snow close to surface, my thigh felt it, expect bruise in few days. At end of Malo polje had enough, walked to car.

Finally request: if cute young lady who waited sunrise on Kredarica Christmas morning with two puppies reads this, please send pic of me and my doggy to bumslpepe@gmail.com.

Today very lively at Kredarica. Excellent hiking conditions obviously attracted crowds. Summit visitors full of praise. Paragliders satisfied too as light wind allowed calm glide to Krma.

Today again with skis from Kredarica. In gully right of Vrh snežne konte hellishly hot on ascent. Descent something medium, worst anticipation when hit rock and fly on nose. I went to Malo polje on skis again, then walk. Some arrived to car with one-time macadam skis. Meteorologists promise Mon-Tue ca. 30cm new snow.
