I'm glad about the fact (as I read in the previous post) that not a single firecracker was discarded.

I'm curious what the path is like, is the track made.. are proper crampons necessary or do six-pointers (small) suffice? It tempts me during the week, no new snow forecasted..

The track is made, conditions yesterday were good suitable for walking without crampons except downhill at Calvary it was a bit harder but doable, take those small ones anyway. Otherwise it was very windy on Kredarica yesterday. Regards

Morning start at the end of the road in Krma, we get there without issues. Descenders say yesterday's conditions for the top were IDEAL, but when we arrive at Kredarica the unwanted guest appears (strong wind, gusts that shake you). Since forecasters predict strong wind for tomorrow too, I descend. Below Calvary I take off crampons and run via shortcuts to the valley ..

For adrenaline the road from Zg. Radovna to Krma took care already in the morning, where there's "live" ice in places. But with a bit of feeling and not too much speed it went ok. Track is fine, six-point crampons are of course the law (at least for me), some struggled without. Today for a change no heat. At 12 o'clock it was -14 degrees, with quite some wind. I wasn't cold otherwise, just a bit of trouble with nose (until I put on the mask - "snout") and of course toes, which were quite cold and numb, obviously time for new touring boots. Short barefoot walk on snow and ice in front of the hut nicely solved toe problems. Descent ski to valley was medium, all kinds of snow appear (soft crud, breaking crud, firm crud, frozen snow; despite low temps I even found some southern snow on sun-exposed slopes. New snow shipment last week allowed ski to car (with two breaks). Between bushes under Vrtača the track was too narrow for my taste for skiing, so I carried skis there. Also carried them shorter section to valley bottom, where I got a bit "lost" among huge rocks. Tried to find nice snow-covered passage to valley bottom. Didn't succeed today. Thursday another (supposedly smaller) snow shipment follows.

On Saturday I was drawn there again. Parking and hiking conditions were excellent, except when photographing at the top, the wind and cold quickly showed their teeth.

Has anyone been to Kredarica today? I'd go up tomorrow, just wondering what the conditions are like?

I was on Triglav on Sunday, to Kredarica crampons and ice axe mandatory. By the way, adding that the path is smooth to end of Krma, but with good winter gear, just careful due to cyclists, walking to shepherd's hut without crampons and ice axe, there above shepherd's path turns to hard icy snow, so under Kalvarija need to put on crampons and take ice axe in hand....possible it's melted these days, because last time crusty in places.

Ljubitelj gora or anyone - can one already walk with skis from the car - at least couple cm snow or just rocks? Thanks.

Can you tell me too what the skiing conditions from Krma are like? Can you ski normally to the car, better take old "rock skis"? Thanks.

As far as I know the conditions in Krma, from Mali polje onwards no skiing is possible, except a little bit above Vrtača. And up there it can't be exactly brilliant either.

Yes, skiing from the car, the path is snowy, here and there a stone on the path that you easily avoid. But skiing down is pure slogging, snow unprocessed and sinks to knees.

Morning in Krma. Only the snow creaking under our steps disturbed the morning silence. In the glow of our lights, the snow sparkled like crystals, above us the sky strewn with countless stars. Today's path to Kredarica was super. Snow just right hard, no sinking anywhere. The path from Zgornja Krma not icy and most of the path over Kalvarija walked without crampons. Only near the end, where the path really steepens, we put on crampons. On the path the sun accompanied us, only at Kredarica wind greeted us but didn't last long. Lounging in the sun while waiting for our Aleš who climbed to the top. All congratulations Aleš.
