For today's holiday I decided to visit Kredarica (although I've been up there five times this winter already), but it was a reckoning without the innkeeper.
At half past seven I find myself completely alone at the last parking lot in Krma, where there's a good 10 cm of snow and 11 degrees below zero. 5 cars are parked a good km earlier at the fountain!?!? - some obviously enjoy walking on the flat. Soon I start meeting people returning; impassable for hikers above Prgarca. Since it's a holiday and plenty of time I go to check. On the last slope before the hut I could have put the poles away in the backpack, as they sank into the fresh powder up to the handles.
While preparing for the return another fast hiker shows up at the hut and almost convinces me to continue. After a few meters of walking on the ski track hope for continuing dries up, as the snow gave way to my knees or beyond at every step.
I think today besides two skiers the feat succeeded only for the guy in the picture??
Since I'd be home too early, I also jumped to greet friends at Kališče.
View from in front of Prgarca. What are the rock towers in the middle called? Far left should be part of Vernar, right of it is Činkelman. Far right might already be part of Arnova glava?1
Up to here it was still manageable, further only for real fighters. I'm really curious if the guy in the picture succeeded. I actually turned back right above the hut - it was pressing me even to r...2

Dovška baba and Hruški vrh - in front of them Jerebikovec. Bottom right on the white oasis is Kovinarska koča in Krma4
Even on Storžič today it wasn't easy, they told me in the hut, although the picture doesn't show it5
Unfortunately it wasn't reachable for me today6

Yes, lijaneja, that's how it was. eek Some of those you met were us, who first "plowed" the path almost to Prgarca. Whoever got to Kredarica yesterday deserves special congratulations.

Didn't "only" 10 cm of new snow fall at Kredarica, how much new snow is there then at Prgarca.

We set off on the path based on the forecasted 10 cm. But then it turned out completely different... the snow is windblown and by my estimate I'd say there's surely 1 m.zmeden

Today I used the last day of "relatively" warm weather in the mountains and my employer's good mood, who told us we "want" vacation on Thursday and Friday.

Morning not unpleasant -17°C in Krma. Road plowed "to zero". On it just enough new snow to cover the ice below.

Wasn't exactly fast, but it went anyway. Somewhere from Debele bukve onward there's already quite substantial new snow, with elevation the snow depth increases too. At Prgarca it's about 60 cm. Track goes quite its own way (thanks to predecessors - without them I wouldn't have reached the top today). Most interesting were quite a few parallel tracks. Obviously hikers have been quite quarrelsome lately. At top of Ulc practically no new snow anymore, a bit windblown but no panic. Obviously all snow from higher areas blown into Zgornja Krma. Higher up quite hard snow. Below Kredarica mainly iced over. Below Kredarica no new snow.

Like Igor Zlodej I also observed the "shift" of meteorologists, only I watched it nicely from the hut (outside -14°C, and not negligible wind). After snack and coffee (meteorologists brew really good) I slowly prepared for skiing.

Conditions for skiing are more poor than good. From Kredarica down the snow (already quite hard) was heavily worked by wind, so there were some crusts. Over Kotel and to Ulc it went fine. Then I decided to descend the winter approach instead of via Ulce (not trodden today!!!). In Zgornja Krma unlimited dry snow, but no longer real powder. Through the scrub I went on the track (not exactly enjoyable), below Debele bukve of course slalom between trees as usual. First time this season I skied from Kredarica to the car without removing skis. Without scraping of course it didn't go, but skis are still usable (just lower the criteria a bit).

Hike to Kredarica succeeded for me (9.2.12). First time up there and it was great, conditions really as bumslpepe described. That gentleman gave me some more info, thanks to him. If you have enough fitness and proper gear then you can get to Kredarica without major problems. Kovinarska Hut - Kredarica 7 hours. LP.

Lijanej, on the second picture is a Hungarian and he had a companion, those two are the only ones who reached Triglav top on 9.2.12. Full respect to them, then together on 10.2 we headed to Krma valley.

Hello caniggia, on 09.02.2012 there was also a Slovene on Triglav top. His path description under "To Triglav" and photos too, nice to check. Lp.

Caniggia, guy in pic at hut is our gore list, we exchanged sentences in nice Slovenian. While I vegetated before hut he suddenly appeared and we discussed going on, but (as described) soon turned because ski track still sinking deep. Don't know if he went on because I didn't go back past hut (he snacking there) to tell him I'm returning.
Hungarians probably slower than you Thursday, overtook them on ascent above podrtijo, on return they at Bohinjska vrata junction.
Reached Kredarica same day, slept there and supposedly with big trouble next day took Triglav, you know.

Hello!
"Dog track" made for ski tourers.
So pedestrians shouldn't hole it! No hard feelings.
LP and safe in mountains!

If there's a dilemma whether to hole the dog track or turn back due to deep snow for trailbreaking, then (with bad conscience) I choose holing. Dogwalkers have it easier in deep snow anyway than hikers.↲↲ Let me end like swiss: no hard feelings and safe.

Today at 6.15 we headed from Krma to Kredarica. Parking almost empty, surprised us. On return at 13.45 saw hikers got up later - parking full. Morning bit hazy, then cleared. Path trodden, must stick strictly or snow to waist! Met groups planning overnight at Kredarica. Safe all!
