Kredarica

no, no, no it's not that bad, I'm asking because I haven't set off to Kredarica in winter conditions yet, but I'd like to, I'd probably have to overnight, considering the day is already so short, I'd have to just rush up and down and have much less time for enjoying the trip. lp

Frenk, start at 5:00 in the morning and you have 12 hours. And you'll experience the sunrise. Look, I'm a woman, and I get there comfortably in one day. Up and down mežikanje. But last time we froze in the hut, as soon as you go out from the common room towards the rooms. In the common room there's a stove, in the rooms no heating and you need, besides jacket and sleeping bag, another 10 blankets. And hot girls don't help you with that, because they freeze in those rooms mežikanjemežikanjemežikanje. Good luck.

Forget hot girls, they usually get the coldest. A grog in the evening will warm you, or some old lady with a warm blanket...

nasmeh You guys are really funny. BUT today conditions to Kredarica were just great.
Although it was raining quite well in Ljubljana in the morning, it was clear in Krma. Walking excellent, snow rather little. approx 30 - 40 cm. On Kalvarija it was a bit windy. Here and there fog came up, otherwise high clouds.

.... I got this by email, and I know many of you go from Krma to Kredarica...
The road is drivable to the basin. Then about 100m torn up, the last flat before parking is covered with scree, then there's a big lake. On the footpath from parking still water flows....

Jojj, man, you can't believe it's true, nothing with Krma this year, not even on foot, let alone by car.

We wanted to go Saturday from Krma to Kredarica, but had to turn back at 3.45 am because water was rushing over the road, so we went then from Kot valley towards Stanič hut. Road here drivable almost to the usual parking at the clearing with fence. Snow starts somewhere at 1300 m.a.s.l. and higher there's quite a lot.

The road to Krma is passable through the Radovna valley - to the basin. The conditions further on are visible from my photos, which are posted a bit higher. On Sunday there was no more lake before the parking lot, nor water further along the path either. But the path is quite torn up. Towards Kredarica there is very little snow. Lp

On Friday I was on Slemen above Mojstrana. After returning I walked to Peričnik waterfall to check the road to Vrata. The road closure is already at the barriers, right after the last house where people still live. Right at the beginning the road was badly damaged - the slope was completely washed away and the road was severely undermined. The road is heavily damaged in several places further on, and in one section just before Peričnik it was completely washed away. They have already started repairing the road, so they've temporarily filled in the washed-away part so workers can drive further into the valley. I don't know the condition from Peričnik waterfall onwards. So the road is heavily damaged and it's questionable when they'll fix it, probably won't open it for traffic this year anymore.

Today was another beautiful day. The road to Krma from the basin onwards is really in very poor condition, and even just before the basin there's an "awkward" spot. Many cars were parked already before that spot. The footpath in places resembles a dry stream bed, most destroyed between Vrtača and Mali polje. Worth mentioning snow starts at Kalvarija, I used six-point crampons from there on to take advantage of all the snow tongues and patches, which were really hard in places. There were quite a few hikers today, almost a crowd on Triglav too.

After Thursday's Triglav yesterday Irena and I went to Kredarica once more. Most of the path was still quite clear, later it clouded over and light snow started. Walking conditions were still good. On the way back we took the winter variant and used all the snow tongues for glissading in boots. LP
