Yesterday I walked a circular route over the peaks Krn-Batognica-Vrh nad Peski-Rdeči rob and back through Lužnica valley to planina Kuhinja.Sun was occasionally hidden behind clouds, otherwise no fog...Recommended.

Today my friend (user Maiden) and I climbed the Silva Koren path for the first time. I agree with everything you've written about this path so far and can say it lived up to my expectations. Descent of course via the plate, where there were lots of tourists. Lp

But I checked the PZS page, the shelter is closed, so you can call by phone.

On Wednesday no one was seen who could serve anything... Maybe for the weekend.

My boyfriend and I were also up there at the beginning of the month. Hut closed, otherwise nice weather, birds, planes, full of paragliders, everything was flying, the little one didn't know where to turn :-) And we went to Batognica, where everything tells about the harsh war times..

The hut is open, but works are still ongoing, so the service is "impaired". Pictures from our somewhat "foggy" trip are at: Krn

Hi! Wonder what the conditions on Krn are like?? Which is the best route? Any snow?

No snow. Path description here: http://www.hribi.net/gora/krn/1/150 Very nice path from Lepena past Krn lake. Or circular route from Kuhinja to Krn and back past lake to Lužnica. Both paths are not demanding.

No more snow, but on Monday afternoon Krn was quite nicely covered with a white blanket.

I'm wondering if anyone knows what the conditions are like for a hike to Krn (we're going 7.2) and how far you can drive by car, safe steps to all...!

On Monday, 31.1., I drove by car to planina Kuhinja. You can see that the path to Krn is trodden and quite wide. How it is with the snow can be seen in the attached photo. Good luck!

Kozorog, interested in path from planina Kuhinja to Krn, not conditions and pic from planina Kuhinja! Otherwise worth checking conditions before each trip and I'll do it in future too, if advice on illiteracy comes no problem. Best Andrej

Tomažke.... I know what interests me, I posted question under "current conditions" not "trips". Anyway let's conclude, real mountaineers are in mountains or sadly at work, so no answers expected. Best

Some really don't know how to ask; namely, several paths lead to some mountains, so one needs to be more precise in asking. Anywhere in the high mountains now requires crampons, an ice axe, and proper experience, so any question on this topic is inappropriate. Even greater stupidity is writing that this gear is not needed, as some do; they are deadly dangerous to others, but unfortunately unaware of it.
