Right that you wrote Krn, because it belongs to the Krn group too. Below the ridge lies planina Zaprikraj, where there's also an open-air museum. The ridge is very nice and Krn is nicely visible from the planina. Recommend visiting planina Zaprikraj and of course the open-air museum.

We've written many times: important is only the path, even if just to the neighbor's fence. Feeling is what really is the essence of walking.

Yes, as for anyone. For me in the Julian Alps it is nicest and I feel best, I leave behind stress and worries, I'm a historian and that's why I visit this part of Primorska.

Although it's hard for me every time to get up early, when I go to the mountains, the effort is always rewarded again . On Thursday, December 22, after 3 weeks of hill wandering it was nicest to visit the heights again. Let it be Krn; the decision fell. Starting point: pl. Kuhinja, which was completely dry. On pl. Slapnik there was snow just for a sample. Pl. Zaslap at 1360m was slightly whiter, but grass and rocks were still sticking out persistently. A bit higher up, the grass and rock colors became less; they were replaced by snowy white. Temperature about a degree below zero, although the little sun was already cheerfully looking down from the sky. Snow frozen and adorned with a shiny icy layer that can, in a moment of carelessness, carry you straight to the valley without prior agreement. Oh, you "roof", you really have your charm . Only in places where it was windblown was the snow softer and did not hold the body's weight. Gomišček hut like a fairy-tale land ... every time I am glad to be able to admire nature's beautiful play. Descent to the valley without peculiarities; the upper part of the path had partly softened and sunk a little; in the lower part of the snowfield, to which the sun devoted heating for a shorter part of the day than at the top, the snow was still hard and icy. It looked as if the two of us were the only ones on the summit that day. With a smile that lasts .

The day before yesterday we popped up to Krn from Lepena. Little snow to the lake. From the lake on conditions more wintery. In the gully snow iced with crust that mostly holds human weight. On the way up we detoured to Batognica. Crossing right below Krn summit a bit strenuous. About 20 cm snow there and pure south-facing. View incredible. Saw the sea. Nice trip I recommend. Winter gear mandatory of course.

Yesterday's mouthful was noticeably too much for me, 2x to summit, at least 2400m elevation gain, since up there making 2000m still not that bad, as up-down-up-down. On Krn 3x in last year and a half. If not mistaken Montaz and Vis seen on penultimate picture, didn't write much about conditions now, even though from West of LJ the way there dragged to Pl.Kuhinja 2 hours for me.

It was only at Pl. Kuhinja that you remembered that Krn has your camera . Yeah, I also forgot poles at Diavolezza because I was admiring the Bernina massif, but I noticed after 100 m descent that something was missing.

Usually on descent I don't take pics and in pockets I always find fruitables.

Despite the weekend forecast of more cloudy weather, we decided to ascend Krn from Planina Kuhinja. Met with group shortly before 7 am and headed to the summit. At the start no sign of snow, so slowly ascend grassy scree, which at about 1600 m alt. is replaced by snow. Due to south side and sunny weather, sinking in places, but no big deal. By car up to Planina Kuhinja. For first part winter boots enough, later crampons more than recommended, as last part quite icy. Descent to Krnska Škrbina no problem and also on icy slope. If interested how ascent looks in pics, welcome to M-foto.si
