Yesterday 1.1. my brother and I were at the summit... not much snow. dry all the way to the first major slope, then you walk on southern snow (grass visible in many places), last hour of ascent is icy, so you need winter gear...

@Tadej Bolta, no problem if this time you were still sleeping when Miljko was already descending. More clear nights and full moon coming, nothing missed. Your post got many thumbs up, means your photos are very nice too.

Today with a friend, we escaped the valley. Question where? The answer offered itself, let's go to Krn. In the Soča valley fog and rain, but when we get out of Kamno the fog clears. About conditions just this: up to 1600m almost dry, then snow starts, which was icy in places, so we put on crampons and it went great, at the top wonderful views and panoramas, weather suitable for spring, in short great tour!

Hi, I'm curious which path is the most visited or trodden in winter. First time heading on this path. Thanks.

Bravo, Swiss, nice day you chose. Crawling on butt (sliding) is anyway obligatory winter sport for Krn slab , just if it doesn't sink too much.

Sliding is a nice sport, but I don't know if Krn slab is suitable terrain for it . This year I witnessed the consequences of such doing. Despite all winter gear it ended with a broken leg, so the rescue team had work again.

If I remember correctly, it was shown years ago on the TV show Mountains and People, performed by J.Š. from Kobarid; back then Krn was of course heavily snow-covered and for the "butt descent" over the "slab" he needed only about 7 minutes. But Ksen's comment is spot on; it's smart to do it in a very controlled manner, because otherwise an accident can happen quickly.

Hi! Well, experienced "sliders" (which Tolminci and Kobaridci are) already know when and how to tackle this. For "first-graders" it's best to first practice with those who master it perfectly. It's not like you just sit and crawl hihihi! You write that it leads to a broken leg, it can even lead to something worse, for men even to becoming a woman hihihi! Best regards and stay safe in the mountains!
