Krn....mountain that always fascinates me ...maybe it's interesting to me because of its specific shape, which is so noticeable from afar...or maybe because it's the spot where the fate of many innocent people was shaped ....Maybe childhood memories tie me to this corner, when we first stepped onto the summit in a big family group ...hehe, at least I....Yeah, maybe.... In my head, actually more correctly in our heads, Krn had been lingering for about 2 months ...That's because I wanted to go up it in winter conditions ....in that real hard snow, in winter sunshine that melts your soul...and heart ....But the summit kept slipping away from us ....no wonder, this year's winter was interesting...plenty of snow, but real winter conditions nowhere really. More free days during the May Day holidays are a chance to use them fully ...So as not to drive too far to the starting point, we stayed overnight with a friend in Bovec this time. Early start when the birds are still half asleep , sun hasn't peeked out yet, was the right choice. Peace, silence, serenity is what you seek ...what pulls you on. Due to slight darkness we strayed a bit from the marked path a few times , but still knew we were on the right track. To Planina Slapnik we got lightly soaked or refreshed once. The alpine pasture was deserted in the early morning, when returning there was a sea of locals as they were fixing fences for livestock grazing. Looking back we saw the parking lot slowly filling nicely....we expected something like that of course. Slowly ascending, looking at the already blooming gentian ,...At Sedlo Leger where the path joins from Drežnica we took a quite long break. We were quite a bit disappointed with the view which was pretty crappy this time . Ok, maybe the clouds will clear with the wind. Hikers climbing in crowds to the top are increasing. Both them and us get refreshed by some raindrops for a short while ....We, already a bit tired, stumble quite often in the last part ...the hut you see most of the way is still ahead . Well, with persistence and stubbornness after about 3h up. The benches we were really happy for ....Gotta say we were surprised by so many visitors...After about 1.5h we headed to the summit....to it we didn't use either crampons or ice axe, although we, probably one of few visitors, had both attached . The cornice at the tip is still very interesting and attracts our gaze too....The lake down there has already lost its ice sheet, peaks above it probably won't lose snow for some time ....Despite no view, that really insanely beautiful one, we still enjoyed...in company of each other and the others ...Yeah really, you feel really strong....but at the same time very fragile and small compared to all that surrounds us ...We descend to the hut where we sit a bit longer, then slowly head to the valley. Well, on descent we met friendly hutkeeper Sabina and son , with whom we had a short pleasant chat . Wind finally chased the clouds and a nice holiday afternoon formed ...which delighted us so much we strayed from the approach direction and joined the path from Drežnica . Seeing some remains of war forts at Sedlo we immediately decided to check them....Due to pleasant sunshine, at times quite scorching , we decide we deserve some break here anyway....Crocuses, gentian, pasque flowers and some snowbells are nice motive for snapping which there was plenty of course ...So not to be too early, we decided to do something good and picked some dandelion for friend on the way, of which there were enormous amounts here ....For the end of nice day we went to the hut at Planina Kuhinja where we treated ourselves to well-deserved beer and ice cream . As always, this time too Krn predictably thrilled me ...Despite being on top several times before, this time it was somewhat different again ...Definitely visiting it again this year, hope from another direction....
