I'm also interested in how the SK path to Krn is.

When I drove yesterday from Bovec towards Tolmin, a large "snow tongue" was visible from the valley, as Ksena says. After May 19 it snowed too and I don't believe the path is completely bare.

That snow tongue is usually passable with winter gear.... I see a bigger problem in the continuation of the path, where the path is unprotected and grassy. It's steep and dangerous for slipping already when wet... when soaked, as is probably the case now ????... probably already mildly suicidal . It's certainly sensible to wait for at least a week-long (possible) dry period..

I'm interested in what the easier path is if there's still snow and whether it's better to wait another week. lp peter

The Krnska plošča is clear. From Pl. Kuhinja the path is easy and for an average hiker takes a good 3 hours. A very nice circular tour is from Pl. Kuhinja via Lužnica valley over Batognica to Krnska škrbina and further to the summit and descent via the plošča to Kuhinja. Or in reverse. It's longer but very nice and historically interesting - past war remains. Certainly there's still some snow in Lužnica valley.

ksena, last August in beautiful sunny and quite warm weather I did exactly that circular tour as you first mentioned. Super hike! Usually, if possible, from the starting point from which several paths to the summit go, I give preference to circular hikes. It's more interesting, generally you need to invest a bit more effort but you get more out of it, see more.

Does anyone know what condition the ferrata Silva Rekarja is in? I assume the wet grasses will also dry in the next few days? Thanks

Janiel74 When did they make the new ferrata "Silva Rekarja"? Look in this section a bit higher and you'll find the ferrata Silva Korena.

What about the path from the lake to Krn?

I'm wondering if the path from the lake to the top of Krn is dry? If there are snow remnants, can they be avoided?

Igor, thanks! I know the path well, I worked on the Krns, I'm interested how much snow is still on the path now because of footwear. I was up when the first couple got married at the lake start and the registrar was named like you from Tolmin unit. I know you know the conditions well. Nice regards!

Yes, then you'd have to ask about snow conditions . I assume it's dry to the Lake, then some snow to planina Polje, the planina is dry, further on there are surely still snow patches. If you go early in the morning it freezes, on the return it might sink in, unless it's already trampled .

Today early in the morning before the roosters crowed , we headed to Krn. At 5:15 from Planina Kuhinja past all flowering and aromatic tea herbs to the shelter under Krn, where it was already lively at 7:00. It smelled of tea, which we enjoyed, then hats on, gloves on and to the summit, no views, windy, cold as if not summer. Mountains. Over 2000 m even in summer below 0, especially foggy and windy. Today +2. No views to the valley and Krn's neighbors, little to see. Then quickly down. At 11 already at work
