If anyone has been or will go, can they tell me how much snow is on the path, Kuhinja, Vrh nad peski, Krn. I'm interested because I'd take my dog (small breed - pinscher). Thanks in advance.

No snow on the path. Don't know if such a long path is suitable for such a dog though. I certainly wouldn't take mine, even though they're in good shape. Just my opinion. Good luck.

We've been on longer hikes too, as long as there's no heat and stuffiness, he goes without a problem. Thanks once more.

Yesterday I luckily decided for the tour to Krn via the S. Korena path. In the fourth attempt I finally caught the sun on the summit. On the path just a little frozen snow on exposed spots and better a bit slower and with head than headlong. No snow while climbing and self-belay kit where there is snow doesn't help. Dreznica (Silva Korena path) - Krn - Dreznica (south path) Regards Rok

Tonight we "blasted" a night hike to Krn by the (slightly waning) full moon. It was great, excellent visibility in "moonlight" weather. Otherwise cold and windy. The moon shines on the plateau around 20:40. Snow starts slowly about two-thirds up the slab, only 100 m below the hut more solidly white. Snow a bit crusty, dry. Since drifted, hard to say how much... say up to 20 cm on top.

Today 11.12.2014 up there. Dream weather, snow starts a bit above junction where Korena path joins this from Kuhinja. Met only one Sočanec and one Drežničan.

Suzana, you had a nice day and made good use of it. I believe the wind ruled on the summit, since I was on Slavnik that day, and there the wind on the top already had quite a grip, let alone on Krn. The pics are nice too, visibility superb; of all, my eye stopped the most on the shining little star on the candle (pic 30). Nice detail. You need an eye for that too.

@SuzanaM: Another of your nice photo reports, as always! Otherwise, judging by the pics, winter gear is not needed. Or is it risky in the snowy part? Don't know the path even in summer.

Thanks to both. At Gomiščkovo hut I put on crampons, though no real need. Snow was soft and path trodden. Below the summit also blown to hard base. More annoying was the ice between rocks at snow line. Otherwise Krnska plošča is around 1,000 m long. When more snow, can ski straight from top to Kuhinja alpine pasture.

Sorry, something's been bothering me for a while! Does snow fall or honey? And if it falls, it completely covers Krn and logically doesn't honey-cover it... Come on, we all went to Slovenian schools... Or will we here too start introducing some "air-beaters (helicopter), eco-cunning homeguards (dog), puff-ups (tie) and eco-belt pants-holders (belt) and woolen four-legged grass-pullers (sheep) or horned four-legged grass-pullers (cow)" and similar, like our southern neighbors???

It's nice to shelter too... or even to kite?! Some (maybe a little in jest) even say it "honeys".

It's praiseworthy that someone still cares for nice, Slovenian expression.

Short answer to two Slavists: zamêsti -mête also zamêsti -mêde allowed; zametênje also zamedênje; other see mêsti 2 (é; é) someone/something: Car is snowed in; In mountains they are snowed in; e.g., Snow snowed in the roads (sskj) Soon Krn will be snowed in too.

Reminds me a bit of when two Slavists argued how to say it more correctly.. whether "it's raining" or "rain is falling" and after long hours of arguing they head home... when they step out of the building it's raining hard.... and both in unison... "mother's shitting"...
