The hut at Krn Lakes is still closed - there's a bivouac Snow patches from the lake to the notch are still substantial, but they're not on exposed sections and no problem to cross. I didn't put on crampons up there, especially since the snow is already soft and not steep. From Krn notch to Batognica summit the path is very airy in places but not climbing and very well made. You can see quite deep down though. For overnighting there's also a bivouac in Gomišček shelter a bit below Krn summit. Or you can camp by the lake - yesterday I saw a tent pitched there, don't know if it's allowed since it's Triglav National Park.

Thanks Sebo. Planning the route only in good 2 weeks, so maybe something already open, snow also somewhat less. Do you maybe know the path between Škrbina and the ledge that bypasses Batognica from the north. It should be easy.

At the mountaineering association managing the hut, they replied that it will be open on 6.6. already.

North slopes of Krn can be snow-covered even late in June. This year is an exception due to low snowpack. The path to Batognica itself is nothing special. Those few steps of "adrenaline" and "airiness" your better half will manage easily. Regarding the north path: The path is visible from afar in dry rock. In snow ...well, no.... Regarding camping and tenting at Krn Lake I have my opinion. Negative, of course. But each to their own conscience. Otherwise the tour is doable in one day. so go boldly.

Was anyone by chance this weekend on Krn and Batognica from the Krn Lakes direction? Wondering if the snow from 10 days ago is gone.

I was on Saturday from Planina Kuhinja and let me say snow is still very very little, which you can easily bypass.

This morning before the rain on the summit. Italians left their track. Conditions excellent for good pace. Hut is open. When I sat in the car after the tour, it started drizzling.

Hello, Which circular direction do you recommend for Krn? Planina Kuhinja- Krn and descent past Lužnica and Batognica, or in the opposite direction?

From Planina Kuhinja up, then back past Lužnica. But now you gotta start this tour very, very early! It's nice, but awfully sunny!!!

Under the dome of the starry sky and to the pleasant chirping of crickets, my date with Krn began on Sunday, 19.7.2015. At the starting point on Planina Kuhinja it was a warm 19 degrees at 2:30, but walking with a gentle breeze was quite easy. Too bad I couldn't admire the luxuriously waving grasses cascading along the path in the dark, but I enjoyed the intoxicating scents of carnations blooming on the slopes of Krn all the more. After a crystal clear night, the stars faded into a misty morning, but this time the sun quickly overcame the clouds and the mountains shone in all their beauty. My heart played lightly during the walk through beautiful Batognica, where I took a longer break, and I headed into the hot valley with a heavy heart. Flowering meadows of colorful mountain flowers adorned the entire path. Even under the rocky Peski everything was bursting with colors. After Lužnica in still air, the heat showed its teeth for the first time, and then the wind more or less successfully cooled the heated atmosphere. As always, the most annoying part of the path was the descent under Stador to Planina Leskovca. Slippery and sliding stones from the heat, scree and earth embraced by lush meadow flowers. Soothing for the eyes, but tiring for the head and weary legs. Despite the sweltering heat, a group of "heroes" was found who bit into the steep slope in the middle of the day. Good thing clouds started gathering in the sky and at least somewhat softened the unwise endeavor. Otherwise, no Sunday crowds this time and soothingly beautiful despite the heat.

I need advice: do you think it will be dry enough on Saturday for the Silva Korena path? The path is not recommended after heavy rain, as those steep grasses are supposed to be very dangerous when wet. Otherwise it should be nice (dry) weather tomorrow, but I'm still in doubt.

I think it'll be fine, but anyway you have to be careful even in dry weather. Just go slower and cautiously. Good luck!
