Yes, it's wise to carry crampons wherever you go at this time. I had them myself just in case.

Not exactly Krn, but closest to Batognica
I've been thinking about this peak for a while and today, still in morning twilight, I headed from Planina Kuhinja to Batognica. As often before, I missed the junction and went directly to the saddle via pathless terrain.
Weather mostly sunny with fog periods. Slightly stronger wind only on the ridge. Trail, approx. from 1500 m, snowy in sections and icy patches in places. Didn't use crampons, as I'd have to remove them every 10, 15 min due to bare sections, then put on again... So slowly and carefully. On descent, approx. from Planina Zaslap to Pl. Kuhinja, the trail was muddy and slippery. Few hikers – met only 7.

Yesterday on Krn. Koča pri Savici - Komarča - Black Lake - hut under Bogatin - Vratca - Krn Lake - Krn - Bagotnica - Peski - Prehodce - Vratca - Dom on Komna - mulatiera to the starting point. Snow starts above Komarča. Path to Krn without special features. Very cold at Krn Lake. On Krn strong wind was blowing. Very few visitors. Otherwise sunny and warm weather. Exceptional views. From Krn onwards without special features.
