How does it look from Planina Kuhinja? Probably the snow there has melted?
I assume early morning is needed since walking all the time in the sun from Kuhinja?

What kind of snow? Last week some tables at the shelter were still partly under snow, yesterday there was no more of it. The picture shows the north side and also there you can't see much snow anymore, at least not where it could cause an obstacle.

Already several times on Krn, but this time first on this path. From Planina Kuhinja past Lužnica lake, over Batognica, and of course ascent to Krn from Krnska škrbina. The path, which is quite long from this direction, shows all the grandeur of the Krn mountain range and also the Soča front. The late morning start of the ascent promised a late return home too. Along the path we realized that only three hikers set out on this path to the Krn summit, the hikers we met were returning to the valley.
Later I realized that it really is a smart decision. The path is long of course, but since there is not so much scree and rocks on the path itself, the step is more relaxed too.
From the morning poor view towards the peaks a wonderful day appeared, but we had to go quite a bit higher for that. Beautiful, for the soul, so you forget all troubles or problems.
Quite a few hikers from Planina Kuhinja, many Italians too, the shelter was open the last day, then PD Kobarid duty follows.
Nowhere yet have I noticed so much rose hips, loooots, the first pickers were already at work, though it's better that rose hips get the first frost.
In the hut itself at Planina Kuhinja also something new, among other things the sanitary facilities are arranged.

No, thanks for the corrections. It really is nice in these parts, so what if I have to drive more than 3 hours. I've never seen so much dogwood anywhere. I also picked it a few years ago under Uršlja gora. But too many berries,  but here the bushes are quite low and you can quickly strip a branch.

jprim: almost every tour of mine "costs" getting up at 3am and 250 km one way, if I go to Julijce or Karavanke. Half as many km and one hour longer sleep, if I go to Logarska. Hike to Donačka gora or Boč is "kitsch", because I'm 20 minutes at the starting point.

Then we could go together to Boč or Donačka. Maybe we've met sometime. The drive to our highest peaks is half an hour for us. That means, you can sleep 10 minutes more than us.

Shelter on Krn is managed by PD Nova Gorica, maybe it would be better if it was owned or managed by PD Kobarid

5.10.2019 ascent to Krn. Start at 6:45 at the Hut at Savica, at 8:38 Dom on Komna with a break until 8:55, Vratca (Bogatinsko sedlo) at 9:55, at 10:30 planina Prehodci, at 10:35 left turnoff to Peske from the Prehodci Krnsko jezero path, at 12:25 WWI monument at Peske where the path turns at a right angle in the direction of Batognica. At 13:00 Prag – saddle between Peske and Batognica, at 13:40 Krnska škrbina – saddle between Batognica and Krn, 14:10 Krn summit, at 14:20 descent to Gomišček shelter under Krn, at 14:30 shelter, 14:40 from the shelter toward Krnska škrbina, 14:50 škrbina, 16:05 Krnsko jezero and at 16:20 goal, Hut at Krn Lakes, total 9h 35min. Up to the WWI monument it was fantastic, sunny, not too hot and very scenic; further over Peske, Batognica and Krn it was windy and foggy, but below Krnska škrbina nice again, no fog and warmer. I saw no hikers up to Krnska škrbina. No water anywhere on the path!!!! Photos at http://www.pdmaticams-drustvo.si/.
