In Vrata, dry powder snow, hunter's trail almost to junction with PP dry but frozen. Snow starts on descent to Črlovec, on traverse PP to branch for Gulce no issues. Avalanche under Gulce pulled deep down to Vrata. After avalanche recommend crampons. Last third of ascent to Gulce huge unprocessed dry snow that grinds under feet. Continuing to top all grinds, some rock scraping unavoidable.

Does anyone know conditions from Vrata to Gulce saddle and maybe further to Kuk's Peak, or up gully to Škrnatarica.

Breakfast on top surely even the gods from Olympus envied me. mežikanje
On path only once must step on snow, that's when crossing Črlovec. Upper screes with long snow tongue speed up descent nicely.

Previous one wrote all about conditions. Path passable, no issues. Summit just for me. Later climbed left ridge above Gulce and peeked into Amphitheatre over wall.velik nasmeh

Path well traceable except on scree under Gulce where you must search for easiest ways up as down ones are visible. First time on KŠ and don't recommend in fog. Today the fog reached up to 1800 m. Snow just a pinch on top.

Yesterday on Kukova Špica. Autumn day with beautiful viewsnasmehnasmeh. Whoever stayed in the valley can regret it. Conditions on the trail are very good, only before the summit there is a snowfield which is harder snow and a bit more caution; crampons and ice axe are mandatorynasmeh

Yesterday at seven I bite into the cloud above Črlovec. Through soft snow without excessive sinking the sun appears just below Gulce. Occasional rumbling from the gully around Škrnatarica, besides chamois, ptarmigan and 2 chicks the only sign of life this morning. Towards the summit I avoid two frozen parts along already dry paths. Last 10 days back, the box with the book is well above the snow.

Yesterday a nice forecast lured us to the top of Kukova špica from Črlovec scree via Gulce. Trail without issues, need to cross some small snowfields, but due to high temperatures winter gear stayed in or on the backpack. For descent we used the snow tongue and enjoyed glissading. As usual these areas thrill me. But it clouded over before 10am and mists were chasing. But the day was still nice and views at least in the morning beautifulnasmeh

Yesterday my colleague and I set off quite late for Kukova špica. Trail through the forest very pleasant and a bit breezy too. Unfortunately we missed the left turn and tree marker, so lost 15 min towards Sleme. Luckily we soon realized something was wrong and turned back. When we reached the scree where the path branches to KŠ, the strenuous ascent in hot sun began, so the path to Gulce saddle seemed twice as long. Very little snow and can bypass it everywhere, nature is already nicely waking up and full of flowers. From saddle onwards no more snow and summit completely dry, which doesn't apply to neighboring peaks like Škrnatarica and Dovški križ. Weather super (except heat), on trail met no living soul except some chamois. Gotta go to our mountains during the week sometimes nasmeh
Here we missed the mark and turned right by mistake.1
Long and steep path to the summit, the sun beating down as if on purpose.2

Today to Kukova, since we missed it last time we repeated the tour today and reached the goal without issues. Trail completely dry overall, except one snowfield which can be crossed without winter gear. With early start we had some sun, which later hid behind clouds. Didn't meet any hikers though.

Kukova špica
For us three it was the first visit to this peak. In the morning when parking below Črlovec scree the peaks are in fog. Trail in forest nicely trodden and no problems following. Slightly annoyed by many shortcuts (bypasses). The scree to saddle drags on and luckily fog, so spared the heat on quite steep and strenuous ascent on scree. Fog accompanied us to Gulce saddle. In between, for a second something other than foggy white showed. Despite fog no special issues following the pathlet. At saddle fog clears and we enjoy views. Colleague scouts towards Škrnatarica, me towards summit. Not difficult and cairns lead nicely to top. Together snack in sun, eye neighboring peaks.
Slowly fog rises again and break over. Descend to saddle and long screes following each other. Descent harder than ascent. After a bit over seven hours back at start. Probably all tired from ascent.nasmeh
cheers

Today on Kukova špica. Due to an early start (at five), the conditions were excellent - due to partly cloudy weather (there were even some drops), it was easier to push through the scree. The trail is nicely followable. From the Vrtaško Sleme - Poldov rovt path, I went uphill at the big cairn - not the best choice, as I had to churn through quite some scree. On the descent, from that cairn I went about 50 m. There an easier path leads, which later joins the scree path. And also: from the Čez Gulce saddle to the summit, there are no followability issues; on descent, careful steps are needed due to scree on the slabs.
From here (big cairn) continue the path to the next right fork (also small cairn)1

Today I went actually to Vrtaško Sleme from Črlovec via PP trail. At Črlovec I always park on the gravel road before the barrier to avoid walking on scree. But today when I was just putting on boots, the TNP warden stopped by me and quite friendly told me that parking there is forbidden and he'll have to write me a fine if I don't move the car. He said parking is allowed on sand by the road, where most hikers park anyway. Next year even there will be forbidden. When returning, there was already a small log placed there.

And did this friendly supervisory authority perhaps add anything about future solutions regarding parking in the valley? Will they maybe arrange some other parking lot for all visitors of the mountains above Črlovec? (And by that I don't mean parking somewhere in Mojstrana)
Mildly put, it's a bit funny that the official no-parking sign is a piece of dried log (toothpick) on the road.

I heard somewhere that in a year or two this road to Vrata should be reserved only for buses. That's probably a joke, because then I don't see the point of how to even hike to the mountains above Vrata. Tourists will then hike on foot with the bus to Vrata. Probably it was an April fool's joke.
