I don't know what the traffic regime will be in the future.. I've heard/read several possible scenarios already.. Probably the typical one for our conditions will win.. that is, the measure that brings the most money for the least effort wink Soon visiting TNP will become a matter of prestige.. I don't like this situation looming on the horizon.. please, I'm not against throwing some extra coin into the purse for arranging the surroundings.. but I don't like being fleeced..

Yesterday there was no crowdsmile, clouds protected us from the severe heat, so we were at the top in less than 4 hours. Views were just right at times.
Plenty of scree slopes, which are real torment up there. Some of us took a shortcut past them.
At the right junction marked by the cairn in picture 17 in the route description, it's wise to continue straight about 50 m. You reach a really elegant path, which we discovered only on the way back.
Nicely spent day in pleasant companysmile.

Is parking allowed at Crlovec now or not?

We parked directly under the slide at 6 o'clock, we were really the only ones. No nasty uncle passed bysmile, no ticket on the car either.
When returning, some foreigners used the parking for a long rest, drying laundry and sunbathing.

Today early morning (due to heat and scree the proverb "Early hour, golden hour" really applied) start under the slide and classic path to Kuk's Peak. Path ok and well traceable, for ascent after crossing Veliki Črlovec I chose the second junction (from junction to climbing route), descent via scree (first junction). If you look carefully, you can avoid the worst scree, on descent though it's completely different of course.

The view into the mysterious cirque behind Široka peč, Amfiteater, has stirred my imagination since time immemorial. I always seize every opportunity to gaze in its direction and can't tear my eyes away from it. This view always excites me anew; the desire to stand once in that remote world still smolders.
Perhaps Kukova špica offers the most beautiful view of it. Zdenka and I already agreed last year to climb it, but the day shortened too quickly; this year we caught it just in timenasmeh. For her it was the first time up there, for me the second. It is worth climbing this long, quite scree-filled valley between Tičarica and Škrnatarica on one side and Kukova špica on the other.
The initial ascent in switchbacks on the soft path through the forest is also pleasant; it is autumn-colored at this time, and in the afternoon it glows magically.

We were alone on the whole path, no one anywhere, neither on the ascent nor on the descent. Well, we spotted two chamois. And we didn't complain, as we thus had the summit just for ourselves and the view from the top outweighs everything, effort and caution needed especially when ascending in the upper part of the path. Some stone just slips away and rolls down on its own. Well, if it goes alone, it's still goodnasmeh

Nice winter tour to Kuk's Peak, with a touch of sunrise nasmeh
The path went without issues, snow starts at the forest exit, to the summit nicely trodden. Winter gear mandatory !!
On return snowballs formed on crampons, made descent a bit harder. Temperature during the day quite high.

Kuk's Peak - from Črlovec and over Gulce

At this time, with this weather, snow conditions and altitude, currently one of the safer mountains to visit, today many climbers on top, path without any special features or dangers.

I would mention two things: gully to Škrnatarica looks well filled, two tried it today, except upper part maybe ski descent over Gulce ok for hardcore ski tourers, but descend by 12 latest before shade.
On the road from Mojstrana to Vrata valley there are two such signs, but the road is normally drivable.1
At 7:30 the parking lot below Črlovec slide was already taken.2
Crossing the Črlovca gully, ... very slippery in the morning here.3
across three or four well-covered screes comfortably uphill, ...in summer surely more laborious.4
... to the saddle between Škrnatarica and Kukova Špica and view to the summit.5
view back and down towards the saddle.6
snow is still most scarce just below the summit.7
obligatory view and panorama on the mountain wreath around the amphitheatre.8
gully on Škrnatarica looks well snowed.9
two tested it today in it.10
also some such aids for going down.11
after 12:00 Gulce already in shade, good for walking, less for skiing.12
Comparison of photos: morning and afternoon, ... chamois trophy - let's say someone borrowed it13

Today, 18.4., I turned back at the Gulce saddle. In my opinion, I had 1 ice axe too few mežikanje Snow starts less than 50 m into Gulce where I properly geared up for winter. Slabs reach deep into Črlovec. With altitude snow gains compactness, and if you don't really take a wrong step (from the middle to the right all "stuck" and avalanche-prone) you don't go deeper than the ankle. Nothing rumbled until 12:30 when I was back at the start (start 7:00). Big slabs left of Škrnatarica and nothing descended from the nicely filled gully. Some old tracks, but none towards the summit.

Yesterday on Kuk's Peak.
Path nicely traceable without particularities.
Still from the traverse to Gulce better to turn up cca 30 m further from where the big cairn is. Nicer little path.

On Saturday, 20.7., on Kuk's Peak. 16 of us were on the summit in those few hours. You can tell it's the season. I always feared the path through Črlovec because of I don't know what information. But to my surprise, the forest path is wonderfully zigzagged in switchbacks and just right for warming up. It feels like walking on the flat.

I agree with the previous poster that from the traverse path you shouldn't start the ascent to Gulce at the cairn (that path is good for descent) but a bit further (looking towards Triglav) after the bushes a more grassy rocky terrain opens up, which is much easier for ascending. Thanks to the group that pointed out this easier ascent to us. There's no more pathless terrain here as it was decades ago when I hiked here. The path is mostly very well traceable.
For descent you don't need it, because the scree fields are very welcome (not for shoes jezik ).
Weather just right. Ice cream in Mojstrana.

Refreshment at the top. It wasn't too hot though, despite almost no wind. Altitude does its thing.12

There is little snow in the gully under Škrnatarca.14
Welcome scree ... but not for the shoes.15
And very welcome shade. Down below it was much hotter indeed.16

Yesterday I met a new promising mountaineering friend Dušan. Until now he had been more in the low mountains, so first time on the mentioned mountain. We started from the parking under Črlovec and enjoyed for quite a while on the nice dry trail. We geared up winter only at the start of the long and steep vertical to Gulce. Snow in some places wasn't as pleasant as on Jalovec, Rinka, Triglav..., as it sank considerably especially on the return. That was the only difficulty on the tour, warmth, visibility and no wind were top-notch. We stayed on the summit almost an hour, didn't meet or see even one mountaineer, not even chamois or ptarmigans.
As said, another nice tour, Dušan, thanks for the good company.
And some pics to prove it was really so.nasmeh

Conditions were different today. In the gully of Veliki Črlovec there's a lot of snow, which at dawn is quite icy and safest to cross with crampons.
Firm snow starts when turning right onto the slopes toward the saddle. In the morning pleasantly firm so you can progress quickly, but a lot of stones flew down.
From the saddle onward less snow toward the summit, but you can go all the way to the summit on it. Very icy in places in the morning!
On summit at 9:30, snow still holding, on descent from saddle very warm, consequently snow rotting and snowballs on crampons.
Nice tour that took me 5 hours of walking. Met 9 hikers, to whom I also thank here, they know why nasmeh if anyone is interested, find detailed description and why thanks HERE.

Conditions recording here.
