Mala Mojstrovka

Maybe, or rather it's not appropriate here, but still a question. Is it marked somewhere where Šrauf was found, on or below MM, and is that place accessible to us ordinary walkers too? (Š was actually my distant relative)

today up the south direct to the summit... Ideal conditions for walking, no sinking, snow really perfectly ideal... Sunny... unfortunately a bit too windy

After several days of house renovation, in the interim time waiting for the facade workers, I used the day when I can look a bit farther with my eyes than just with the brush on the eaves and balcony railingmrk pogled.
I drive to Vršič and start ascending towards Grebenc in wonderful blue clarity. Just 10m below the ridge, frozen scree and snow surprise me, so I put on crampons. Walking on that without crampons is even harder with plastic boots. Higher up I ascend the completely dry ridge, more snow persists only higher at 2100m and along the ridge edge on the eastern exit gullies of the preparatory route. There I turn onto the snow and zigzag nicely up to the intermediate ridge of Mojstrovka. Views divine with a light breeze that cooled nicely. I try to go to Velika Mojstrovka, cross the untrampled initial traverse and realize that the newly melted snow is quite slippery on the lower crusty harder base, which also doesn't give support when kicked. At two summit steep traverses one ice axe in that wouldn't stop a fall, so I turn back. Yesterday they tried Prisank too, but turned back due to new snow quite before the front window. The nearby Mala Mojstrovka was also a nice final goal. I descended the dry Grebenc, later Vratca also allowed descent just with boots. Below 2100m the snow is completely rotten and riddled due to rain and therefore provides less secure footing. For safe skiing need to wait for the snow to transform a bit and consolidate. The hut with souvenirs at Vršič is already operating, so after the tour I treated myself to a bottle of Viljamovka. Lp!nasmeh

Hello, you probably advise against the route to Little Mojstrovka via Hanzova for tomorrow? Thanks!

Visitors to Slemenova Špica encountered snow already from Vratca onwards. Snow sank over the knees during the day.

Hello

Has anyone been to Little Mojstrovka recently via Hanzova path? What are the conditions like? I'm mainly interested in snow and how many fixed protections are torn.

Thanks for answers

Yesterday I climbed Hanzova - snow is only 20 meters before entering the wall, but groups of "trainees" ahead of me made "steps", so winter gear not needed, wall protections are perfect! More annoying was the sun when descending the south path...

I hope you weren't one of the crowd who climbed over Mojstrovka wall yesterday without helmets and other gear.mežikanje
Somewhere in the middle of the secured path there are still two pulled out anchor pegs.

@MHeberle: Added some pictures.

@garmont: I wrote that WINTER gear is not needed. Maybe I was too early for heroes without any gear, I only met "trainees", and they surely don't lack gear.
As others already wrote under the trip comment, at the beginning of the wall "stones occasionally rain", so helmet is mandatory.

On MM via Hanzova I was on Saturday and Sunday, when the B-category guides exam was taking place on this path.
Some snapshots from the path.

Today circular path. Vršič - Šitna glava - MM - VM - ZM - Travnik - Vršič. The path is very varied and interesting like today's weather (sun - fog - sun). Safe step required, the path is completely dry. Nice greeting

Hi!

How difficult is the path section on MM via Šitna glava after it joins Hanzova? Is a via ferrata set needed on this part?

Tomorrow I'm going up, still weighing between ascent via Šitna glava or via Grebenc.

If no more demanding climbing, I'll choose the path via Šitna glava...

Thanks and lp!

Robi, I think you won't have any problems. Climbing parts are short so, at least I think, no need for kit, but take a helmet.

The path is clearly visible, cairns are placed at spots. My favorite approach to Mojstrovka. Two more pics showing the path to Šitna glava.
