When reading such discussions I'm glad I left the "famous" peaks world and do less known paths... breathe guys and post real conditions!

dunno where you now found Stožice zavijanje z očmi
No need to demolish, nature will handle them sooner or later, no need to renovate or put up new ones. Dunno why people always need to erect such and such monuments to which you bow. Good example miri pic. If you must, bow to the first letter on the path, same effect. jezik

As for the helmet, don't worry, they say we on the Karst have a head hard as stone.... Anyway, I'm not the one in the picture.
@ms_primoz probably, if in seven years only one picture is posted there's no great danger of disappointing anyonemežikanje.
Cheers to all

The debate has heated up, so I'll add something to this topic myself.
Three weeks ago we were at Ogradi, a young girl climbs up on the cross and does acrobatics. I was shocked, it looks like this is the new fad of our youth, without respect for anything.
We often roam the Austrian mountains, there the locals taught me that when you reach the top, you grasp the cross with your hand and thank the mountain for the successful ascent with a greeting.

I don't bow to any monuments, I'm not the type of person who goes to various celebrationsmežikanje
I just want to tell you that what you don't like, maybe others do, so all this destructive campaign against things that stood before you were born is unnecessary. There are more of these little activists every day...Enjoy lifenasmeh

I happily checked the conditions on Mangart from pikpok, although I know they're completely different today... mežikanje
As for that picture though I also don't see a reason to just throw the guy in jail for it... mežikanje Trzinka sat on raufnk too and it didn't just collapse ... velik nasmeh

See there we agree....but that logic goes both ways...what someone likes doesn't mean everyone likes it...so why put religious symbols or any symbols at all on the summits.
Destructive campaign - read my last comment once more. mežikanje Celebrations?! eek No thanks. I don't need to "pray" to or worship anyone, whether imaginary or real people, whether star, cross, crescent, star of David or any other religious and political nonsense... mežikanje

Apparently I stirred up shit again by making an observation and commenting on the selfie sitting on the cross. For me it's exactly the same if it happened on Aljaž Tower on Triglav or if a selfie was taken standing on the logbook box (which is possible). For me it's unacceptable. velik nasmeh

To all those who are up in arms about some cross.
It's just about respect, that's what I'm writing about.
But when you experience some great negative experience in life, then you'll believe many things and bow to many.

In the mountains we are visitors, not at home. We behave respectfully towards nature, animals and people.
That's why pikpok's arguments don't hold, nor those of his "fans".

Pikpok puts on the scale of justification for sitting on the cross his report on conditions and warning other hikers about dangers in the mountains and use of appropriate equipment according to conditions. Obviously he failed to warn his buddy that "the path is not safe without full winter gear", instead he photographed him - I doubt as a warning to others..

Some on this forum agreed with his posing on the cross and gave various arguments or excuses for it - from "good" photo (which it actually is outside this context - but still I stick to the first two sentences of this post) - to the question whether the cross belongs on the mountain top at all. With this "argument" for the mentioned act it's about evading responsibility in the sense - the cross doesn't belong up there anyway, so we can do whatever we want with it.
Some support him either because they like pranks, or because they don't care about other people and rules, written or unwritten..

And here I return to the beginning of the post. In the mountains we are visitors and not at home.

Putting religious (and other) symbols on our summits bothers me too. Only the Aljaž Tower,
as a recognizable part of Triglav, should remain.

Djimuzl, exactly. Some don't even have basic polite and respectful behavior in the mountains. They also can't stand symbols on mountains that were put up long ago and are unproblematic abroad too. Hatred shines from their eyes towards any difference from what they've programmed themselves. Obviously they'd walk through cemeteries too and destroy everything not in their programmed brains. Good soldier Svejk already said "let's have cold blood and warm pants". Lp! velik nasmeh

This discussion really doesn't belong in this section, please admin delete all unnecessary posts by anonymous users who can't shake the Slovenian habit of arguing about everything. Maybe it would be smart to abolish anonymity and allow posts only by users with personal data (of course verified). Posts should really only relate to current conditions, photos and such. I'm very disappointed with some individuals posting here as I was always convinced that mountaineers are positive people, full of understanding, ready to help in the mountains and elsewhere anyone even those who sometimes do something stupid and then post it. Please think a bit about yourselves and try to be more understanding towards others at least on these pages that describe all the beauties of our mountains and the positivity of all of us trying to conquer them in one way or another.
Lots of enjoyment in our mountains Slavko&Mirjam

For all those who associate the cross with a religious symbol!
Read on the web what all the symbolism of the cross means.
It's not just a religious symbol and has multiple meanings and was placed for a purpose.
On Šjrlatica there's also a cross placed and you can read why it was placed https://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/88929/.
My opinion is that every thing placed on summits deserves respect and let's not cause harm to ourselves, others and nature.

Don't get too upset about crosses on mountain tops. In a few decades, a crescent moon will replace them everywhere.
Conditions on Mangart will be different every day, as they have been for thousands of years. Safe steps to all!
