Mirank is quite right. To the bivouac you practically need no safety gear. The path is similar to the one on Kanjavčev police. But the path through the glacier is a whole different story - no safety gear (at the rock ledge two pitons would fit, but the path would lose attractiveness and difficulty), markings need to be found. And after exiting the glacier the ridge path is very exposed. My opinion is that this path is primarily for ascent, so turning around in the middle of the glacier is not recommended. Based on my experiences I'd compare this path difficulty-wise somehow to the path to Mrzla gora from Mrzli dol.

Today you had views from the top only before sunrise.
From Pecol to Pipan's ladder and return along the ascent route. Conditions are mixed from dry to sinking up to the waist.

After solid mushroom foraging training the last two weeks, today I flew over the hills of the Western Julian Alps.nasmeh
Started at Pecol, ascended through Findenegg glacier to Špik nad Policami, descended easily via ferrata (oops, one rung is torn out) and continued on Leva path towards Špik Hude police. Ignored the two intermediate Špiks.nasmeh
Again up the via ferrata to Špik Hude police, from there via Ceria Merlone path (the reason I went on this tour, as it was unknown to me) towards Špik nad Nosom with nice bivouac, which I observed last time from Koštrunovi špici.
Along the way off-trail descents from the ridge were tempting, but the day was beautiful and not over yet. Only behind Špik nad Špranjo, or where the branch to Škrbina Prednje Špranje is, I turned downhill through meadows to planina Krni dol. Also via comfortable grassy mule track. Finally on the arranged macadam road to Pecol. There I missed the bike.nasmeh
Nice, scenic, autumn tour.
In the morning still without sun.1
On the shady side.2
At the top of Montaž.3
Beautiful view into Zajzero.4
Towards Špik Hude police.5
Up the lojtrca.6
Rocky face in the notch.7
Špika nad Nosom is still far away.8
It's already closer.9
Bivouac on the summit and the visible continuation of the path across partially snow-covered ledges.10
Uh, this will be a tough challenge if it's a harsh winter.11
It's still quite nagging.12
I disturbed those capital ones during my break.13
You can see that I was a corporal in the Yugoslav army.14
Supervision over the ski slope.15
I descended across these meadows.16
Occasionally also along a comfortable mule track.17
From the alpine pasture Krni dol...18
...then on gravel to Pecol.19
Autumn is the most beautiful for me.20

Yesterday up via Findenegg, where there are a couple snow patches hard as concrete and return via lojtrica. Via the always nice Leva path still to Špik and down. Views to the west and sky tell us it won't last long like this. Otherwise on a workday quite a few visitors, except two foreigners all localswink

Dejan would probably need 5 hours or less for this tour instead of 9.wink
At the end I was kinda sorry I didn't visit some pathless Špik in between, cuz I had two hours till dark.sad look Anyway more reason to revisit this ridge.

Well, it doesn't really belong under Montaž, but anyway;
on Saturday I plan to visit Vrh Brda (Cima Verde). If I'm right, somewhere at Pipan's ladder there's a junction for Vrh Brda, but it's supposed to be poorly marked. Further the mountain is pathless. Maybe someone knows more about this junction and path to the top? Some tip, experience from that path, advice...

You need to branch off right before Pipan's ladder. You'll see the sign.
This pic shows pretty well how far below the ladder the path/branch is: http://www.hribi.net/slika.asp?pot=51661

Or climb the ladder to the ridge then path right; I don't recall any signconfused neither up nor down (except for Leva path). No panic, the whole slope is crisscrossed with old military paths or natural passages. At the top there are still remains of some military installations...

Not long ago I was on Montaž (via Pipan ladder), so I still remember lower and upper part of this path somewhat. Didn't notice any marker for the branch myself, that's why asking (on return saw Leva marker, but didn't go back after).
Anyway; big thanks to both for reply.
