Janezs, if we had more like you in our beautiful Homeland, it would be even nicer than it already is. THANKS, even though I don't go to those parts, but it's nice everywhere . GOOD LUCK..

On my last visit to the Path to Olševa an obstacle remained on the path. I removed it yesterday, light drizzle bothered me during work, I comforted myself that I could get rain even during hiking. Now the path from Slemena is without obstacles. Lp. J.

Yesterday, a short "tourist" visit to Olševa. With Nejc and Anja we climbed to Govec, then just took a little look around the foot of Olševa. No time for more. Regards. The path is without special features.

Olševa didn't leave any special impressions on me during my first visit about twenty years ago. Only sitting in front of Potočka zijalka and the church of Sv. Duh remained in my memory. But I discovered the true magic of this mountain range only on Saturday . Of course, it all starts with a beautiful view of the aforementioned church, from which you can't tear your eyes away, as it stands with the magical backdrop of KSA in the background. But it changes, depending on where you look at it. Once you see it with Brana in the background, if you move, it's Mrzla gora in the background, and other times something else. It's worth driving up here, even just for these views . On Saturday, the morning views were the most beautiful, as it clouded over later. But the cloudiness didn't affect the magic of the Olševa mountain range much, as the range itself is so beautiful that you almost don't need distant views . Well, the whole tour was actually planned for visiting Lipševa vrata, but it also connected into a nice traverse over the Sv. Duh saddle along the border path to Austria. Later followed a steep ascent to Obel kamen and further to the highest peak Govc, and the return we did past Potočka zijalka and descended to the Rogar farm and back to the starting point. Jože, who had been here before, came up with the idea to climb to Lipševa vrata by first descending the steep path at the initial cables and starting the ascent at the lowest cable that leads through the middle gate, which turned out to be a very good solution. On the Obel vrh we ran into a hiker who taught us where the actual top of Obel Kamen is, which we didn't know before. Of course, this hiker wasn't just anyone, but bbugari1 from hribi-net and we were all very happy about the chance encounter, so bbugari1 best regards again, if you're reading these lines .

I'm reading, of course! Best regards to you and Jože and I'm really glad we met! You can also add a group photo on Obel kamen, if you want of course... For me the next day Mrzla gora was off because my knee hurt in the evening, but I figured that mountain isn't worth any risk. Of course I used the day for hiking around and in Logarska dolina and by bike around Golte! This foot-bike combination has been zeeeeery good for me for some time, I used it also on Saturday because I started to Olševa from Oševnik, but finished the traverse at Rogar where the bike was waiting for me. Then by bike down to Oševnik and the car pure pleasure... In the future I will consider this combination for planning all summer trips!

Ločanka described the western approach to Olševa, but I'll say something about the eastern approach from Gornji Ošovnik (of course, garmont ). This approach and steep ascent greatly resembles the ascent from Vrata over Brinova glava. In the first part the path is well visible (and marked), all the way to the viewpoint that greatly resembles Brinova glava. Further the path becomes less visible, like in the "original", the marks become rare and also poorly visible. At the end the path leads across a meadow to the ridge at the position where only marks for the longitudinal directions (Olševa and Grohat) are placed, not for descent towards Ošovnik! So not at Gladkem vrhu (as on the map), but a bit west of it. A hiker who wants to descend should turn at the signpost towards the far visible stone in the SE direction, on which the next mark is. There are no marks also in the first ten minutes of walking along the ridge, to a small gap, where the path from Pece joins. This location is also further west than on the map. Ločanka's problem with Oblim kamen (and mine at the beginning) is that the Austrians placed a cross and summit book on the second forepeak, although in reality Obel kamen is their highest point on Olševa!?

So, somewhere near Strevec... I think it's either the hut visible in ločanka's pic no. 2 and 3, or one of the huts mentioned below, which obviously no longer exists.

A few more pictures from path maintenance, under Govška planina. (From the route Kumer - Olševa). At this spot the path became narrower and narrower, also the timber extraction with cable crane narrowed the already narrow path in places. Also old barbed wire was found along the path. Therefore I decided after mowing to widen the path a bit more. At the same time I made a ditch at the small spring. At this spot, I piled stones from the stream so that in the future it can be walked on a hard dry path.

Some paths in our hills are slowly getting overgrown. That certainly doesn't apply to Olševa. Janezs, thanks.

This time we started walking at Kumer at 2 a.m. There was nothing of the forecasted cloudiness. It was a pleasant clear night without wind. Mostly silently each with their own thoughts, we walked on the dusty road. The dust visibly rose in the glow of the headlamps. When we got to the trail I observed in the beam of light the work I did a few days ago. After the summit, we return part way and continue along the ridge of Olševa. I'm watching where we'll spot the flock of sheep sleeping. Soon we spot them, surprised by some very small lambs. We start descending towards the ridge. Deep in the valley, I notice the foresters are at it again. Because of the bark beetle and unprofessional work first time, they have to do it again. I think, but I won't clean up after them for the fourth time. On the lower ridge it's light enough to turn off the lights. I could add that I ended up on the ground three times.
