Hello, since we want to go to Olševa on Saturday and can't find a description anywhere how to get to the windows. So I'd kindly ask if someone could describe more precisely the path over the windows to Obel kamen. Thanks in advance. I already know some of the path since I was on Olševa, just not over the windows and not to Obel kamen either. lp

Thanks for reply, just wondering if you go to Potočka zijalka or already before you have to go to Austria, because there you wrote that right after Rogar you headed to Austria.lp

Nothing special to describe, maybe something elsenasmeh, you go past Potočka -then sign about 10 min before Potočka zijalka directs left. And then you go and go....
There are quite a few descriptions on this and pics, unless geppo wants to tell you something private.velik nasmehzavijanje z očmi

Ah so, don't know, seemed a bit strange to me that he describes path on PM, since forum is for that, wider circle, so you two had something to arrangevelik nasmehjezikzavijanje z očmi

I see it bothers you, it bothered me too that he wrote the path privately, which he could here so all see. Nothing special he wrote, as jprim says before Potočka go left. velik nasmehjezeneek

Guys and girls, the second part of the path ( Okna/Obel kamen ) is more than half off-trail ( unmarked ). First part from Rogar/Potočka is described many times and marked so no special explanation needed. I don't intend to describe this off-trail in detail on forum, but if someone really interested no problem to explain it.
Wouldn't advertise this off-trail, because you can get lost, or rather path is extremely steep and can be tricky too ( see JTrogar's post who descended this path )

After frozen north ascent and south sunny valley side descent, I could write about today's tour to Olševa. Up past picturesque Lipševa Vrata to Obel kamen then along scenic ridge to Govca, return past famous Potočka zijalka. Another nice, already quite spring tour.

Today I did a hike to Olševa with the aim to view the famous windows on the Austrian side of Olševa. The weather was very nice, pleasantly warm without wind, the path to Potočka was dry except in one section with a little snow (small patch), to the windows on the Austrian side the same, protections OK. From the windows I also went to Obel kamen, where it's a different story: still quite thick snow patches in some sections, so need to be careful on the ascent. I finished the hike more quickly than usual because the forecasters threatened thunderstorms yesterdayvelik nasmeh but there was nothing except clouds forming over the Kamniks.... so I had time to pop into Logarska to check Okrešelj.
Some of us can hardly afford prestigious trips (abroad), so we value such simple ones even more in admiring our country even though quite a lot of Germanic blood flows in me, I like our countrynasmeh

In the late afternoon we managed to reach Olševa from Govška planina. At 17.30 in the afternoon we signed as 23rd and 24th in the summit logbook.
At Visoka peč the view to Raduha revealed dark threatening clouds, which in the next two hours dissolved into beautiful blue sky. By then we were already back in Koprivna valley.

On Monday still at the sea, today in the mountains - goal Olševa, of course in two. Start at Sv. Duh church and to Potočka zijalka via the classic. Then continuation via gullies to junction and to Obel kamen. Follows ridge traverse to junction where paths meet and to Govca. There rest and snack. Continuation along the ridge east to Gladki vrh, then descent to Podolševa, which was a nightmare. The descent drags like "guts", luckily the path was dry, otherwise you don't get down clean, and you can hurt yourself too. At the junction another 3 km walk to the car at the starting point. Weather wonderful, no wind, hot, in short a wonderful tour in two. Today Olševa quite besieged. LPnasmeh

Hi!

I'm interested if it's possible to reach Olševa also without gullies and ropes, and how many hours' walk from Sv. Duh, and also whether you can reach Sv. Duh via that road where the junction says Podolševa, Črna na Koroškem; just heard the road is in very bad condition. I know that from there to Črna na Koroškem the road is catastrophic, to Sv. Duh I don't know, is it the same? Thanks and happy trails.

Yes, you can go up without gullies from the junction at the Zgornji Ošlovnik farm (a bit before the road junction coming from Črna). But I don't recommend it to you, the path is steep and very poorly marked. We came from the Logarska direction and in Solčava right to Podolševa to Sv. Duh. Together we took from Sv. Duh to Potočka zijalka 1 hour, to Obel kamen 1 hour and for the traverse to Govca half an hour. Descent to the road via the ridge as described: 2 tough hours and another 3 km walking. The road from Solčava to Sv. Duh and further to the end of the panoramic road (junction for Pavličevo sedlo/Logarska dolina) is OK. To the Črna junction I don't know. LP

Hribovc88, the path from Sv. Duh (Rogar farm) to the summit (Govca) is technically undemanding. Higher than Potočka zijalka there are steel cables fixed at two or three spots, but the passages are not demanding nor exposed. If going directly from Sv. Duh to the Olševa summit, you'd need about two good hours, I think that's also what's marked...

Hribovc88, that road you mentioned as very bad is actually in quite good condition. At a few spots it is a bit twisty and wavy.

On Wednesday from Sv. Duh over the same-named saddle we went along the border path, which at the start was nice and gentle, then steeper towards Potočka Zijalka. A bit higher we turned onto the path to Obel kamen. From there we continued along the ridge towards the summit and in nice weather enjoyed the great view of the Kamnik Alps. We returned via the path to Rogar farm. The whole path is not too demanding and suitable also for beginners. Regards

Today from Sv. Duh to Potočka Zijalka, to Obel kamen and along the ridge to Govca, then back to the starting point - Rogar farm. The ridge path is fully marked (though some marks are a bit older), so you can't miss the path and without any special difficulties. Only at one spot you need to use your hands. The path from Govca to Potočka Zijalka is in my personal opinion harder for the inexperienced than the ridge one.
I think the tour is suitable for everyone except beginners, also not too long - less than 4 hours at moderate pace.

On Friday from Sv. Duh to Austria and to the windows in Olševa, then pathless to Obel kamen and then past Potočka zijalka back to Sv. Duh. Path from junction to Austria to windows poorly marked and very poorly trodden, but I found it without trouble. Also from windows to Obel kamen not marked but path to summit found without trouble, only occasionally need to use hands over rocks and overgrown scree. The windows are really exceptional and worth seeing.
Took three and a half hours of moderate walking and due to heat was at Sv. Duh already at 11.00.
