Zagi, on Komna also this year very bad snow conditions.
But tomorrow and Thursday some new snow will fall up there (probably around 20 cm or more), so better feeling.
safe step

sorry for off-topic.

Today finally made the ascent to Peca. It had evaded me for a long time.
Start from Topla valley at 08:30. At start -7°C. Path through forest to Peca hut without peculiarities, then from hut onwards crampons recommended. Weather fantastic, almost cloudless. Wind showed its power, on summit (-11°C) blowing so hard, stayed only for one photo and quick move lower to lee side. There a few more pics and back to valley. At trailhead at 14:30.
Nice recreational day except wind nasmeh

Regards, Jure

Jure, nice picsnasmeh! Yeah, Peca is known for wind on top. I tried it myself in December. But just below the summit it's much nicer, when enjoying the viewsvelik nasmeh.

Today ascended via ferrata path to Peca summit. All protections fine. Conditions in wall almost dry, snow (south-facing) just traces, temp in wall boilingnasmeh. Since a pic is worth more than 100 words, attaching some photos.

From the pics it looks like you had luck with the weather, Lenko. Yesterday we were there, no sun in sight, and of course crazy wind on top. Views mediocre, just fog. Started at Karavle, path to hut fine, then via unsecured, totally ok, no crampons needed.

Started quite late, namely at 9.30 from Črna or Mitnik. Since last time "viewed" Peca from Raduha and "difficult" path looked dry, today checked path and yes without issues...returned via normal path. Today met no one, weather ok-ish, views definitely better than yesterdaymežikanje, here and there sun or wind greeted me. As forecast, conditions tomorrow different...nasmeh

Today I left Celje at six via Črna to the end of the road. The road is in pretty bad shape, lots of falling rocks on it. The path is nice, icy only about 100m from the hut onwards, then no issues and no crampons. Weather fairy-tale, warm, cloudless. I was on top already at 9, then another hour on the veranda of the hut. The whole morning I didn't meet anyone, in short, fairy-tale...

I haven't walked this path yet, so in a cloudy morning I drove to Črna or rather to the Topla landscape park, where at the now closed lead and zinc mine I left the car. I climbed to Knipsovo sedlo via an unmarked path that's more than obvious and visible, you just have to turn right immediately at the start at the Peca-Kneps sign. The path is dry up to a bit before the saddle, then there are still snow patches which apart from sinking in, even to the very end if you take the shortcutvelik nasmeh, don't cause problems. Since I did a circular tour, I returned via the normal path which in the summit section is still snowy in places and continued past Dom na Peci back to the start in Topla... I really liked the path very much, the start to the saddle really bites into your kneesmežikanje, then it flattens, a bit up a bit down... it's varied and interesting. As for the weather today clouds, sun and wind were in charge...nasmeh
If the tour isn't enough for you, you can still go "climbing" to Burjakova stenamežikanje, which on the way back is by the road, looks even better live...

Nice weather was quite inviting, so I decided to climb Peca. I started at the parking lot near Topla and went past Dom na Peci up the secured path to the summit. On the secured path all protections are OK, and there's no snow on the path itself anymore. After mandatory sunbathing I descended via Knipsovo sedlo and unmarked steep trail to Topla valley. On the way from Peca summit to the saddle there's still quite some snow, which, apart from wet boots, doesn't pose a problem.
The whole tour took me almost 6 hours with breaks.

Although Podpeča is far for us by car, we visited Peca again today. We parked at the Jakobah parking lot. The path was entirely snow-free and dry, towards the summit only a few snow patches visible. We ascended Peca via the very demanding path, descended via the easier one. The path is all in flowers, on little Peca we already saw pogačice, walls adorned with golden aurikliji, towards the summit lots of zaspančki, and first neboglasnice already blooming. The hut is also adorned with aurikliji.
It is also adorned by a rich culinary offer, from beef soup, bograč, jota to authentic Carinthian dishes. Good hut service just beautifies the tour here in Matjaž's kingdom.

Is there any map online where paths to Peca are marked? Which path is the easiest for ascent, up to what altitude is car access?
like
mojcika23. 05. 2011 22:44:09
The variant I described is the easiest, I think - but it could be debated, since we noticed a car right before the hut...we had the Kamniške Alpe map with us, those paths are definitely on it.
