You can drive to Jakobe parking lot. That car was the hut keeper's.

At what altitude is the Jakobe parking lot? Then it's another 3 hours' walk to the top?

The parking lot is at 1410 m altitude, to the top it's a good 2 hours' walk. We got from Jakobe parking lot to the top of Peca in two hours and that via the climbing path. You have to know that there were two kids besides, so we had more stops and you walk a bit longer than if only adults go up. Take your time and go nice and slow, you'll be up in two hours. Best regards and good luck.

Thanks for the answer! So from the base, if you take time and walk Sunday-like up, how much time would it take? Probably at least 5 hours to reckon? Actually we're going to Peca for the first time, we're from Maribor, so we'd be there the whole day anyway! For comparison from Maribor(300m) to Belvij(1050m) we need slowly about an hour plus 15 minutes!

Hi! Thinking of heading to Peca this weekend via the climbing path. Wondering about the snow conditions ... LP

Already on 8.5.2011 there was no snow even for a sample; the climbing path is actually in the warm southern part of the range, so snow clears very quickly there.

Yesterday at six from Topla to Mala Peca then to King Matjaz cliff, to the hut under Peca for coffee and then via climbing path to Peca. We descended via Knipsovo sedlo to the valley. Climbing path is nicely secured, so no problems. Weather quite nice, a bit cold but pleasant for hiking.

Peca - access to the secured path Walter Mory is obstructed, due to a larger wall rockfall at the ferrata entrance. From the junction from path P3 to ferrata the path is visible another 15m, the rest is all buried with rocks and fallen trees. The rockfall can be bypassed on the left side straight up to the wall, which leads directly to the entrance. Ferrata is otherwise BP.

Today Peca from Topla valley, first over Knipsovo sedlo to the hut and then to the starting point. Would warn about the ladder, which no longer has its purpose, as you have to pull a bit under the rock itself. At Knipsovo sedlo the sign is down, it would be nice if it stood again, as there are many visitors from Austrian side, even those who actually don't know at all where they're going. They thought they go towards the hut. They wasted quite some altitude, good they met us, they could descend to the very start. ... and wonder where the hut is. Most of the path was scented by blooming cyclamens. LP!

03.08.2011 I forgot black-yellow Kilimanjaro poles at the parking lot by the karavla. If anyone found them, I'd kindly ask to return them to me. Contact: neph01@gmail.com Thanks!

I've never particularly delved into how Peca and Olševa belong to the Karavanke. Today we were on Raduha and looked towards Peca but it doesn't make sense to me. At home I also looked at the map but Karavanke are marked quite far from Peca lp

hanč You might also be surprised by this fact: ... Donačka gora belongs to the easternmost part of the Karavanke in Slovenia (which end ...) LP!

When browsing forums like this I get lots of info. Sadly not all. What is the path from the old karavla past Tomaževa koča to the hut on Peca like? How long will it take me! Thanks for the answer Darko

Curious about the secured path to Peca? Suitable for 10yo kids who've climbed a bit here and there and love hiking otherwise? Via ferrata kit needed? Helmet? Thanks!

Hi Path via secured route to Peca is nice and maintained, not too demanding but for young hikers I recommend a via ferrata kit. I recommend a helmet anyway for all. Lp Franjo

The path is as frenky described. If you're used to some climbing and cables, no problems. Hribovc88, maybe first time with cables?

@Hribovc88 you get to the top faster by the normal path than by the secured one.
