strikan@, nice pics and I welcome that someone photographs what awaits us "dizzy ones" around the corner, this directional approach to Peca; winking thanks and lp

Primoza@, the directional stone at the top of Peca is not intended for what you used it for.Lp

During the drive I decide for Peca (first thought to go to Plešivec).
From the former guardhouse (facade t. Tito) we drive a couple more km. Clock hands are already deep into late morning and days are getting shorter. So I use the access road more and drive further.
Near where the cargo cableway crosses the road I leave the car. Approx. 15 min higher the road is closed due to piled logs. When I see a bit higher above the road the sign for Peca Hut (30min) we dig into the steep.
Soon clear to me that this path isn't walked often. Path (if I can call it that) is hard to follow and marks haven't seen painter's brush long ago. Many covered by moss and I follow "path" with difficulty. Many marks probably already trucked to the sawmill in the valley.
After approx. 45 min we reach the clearing (from there 5min more) to Peca Hut. At the hut (closed) short rest and onwards.
Despite wife in her "mountaineering career" seeing via ferrata only once (few meters at Potočka when going to Obel kamen or some gondola "loop") I decide for VERY DIFFICULT.
SW wind already strong in the wall and we sense higher it will be worse...
Without issues soon at wall exit where hurricane wind awaits. Fogs SW wind brings from KSA swirl in rocks and at moments in thick fog. Wind gusts sweep us and though Kordeževa glava very close we don't go to summit.
It's anyway in fog and hurricane wind. Descend normal path and when to eastern side protected from wind. Descend to hut and without stop onwards. Thinking if descend previous "path"?? Decide yes as it shortcuts road. Though up here few hours ago, descent again dilemmas (where path?). Still descend to sign in 27 min.
Autumn offers wonderful colors and high temps. Wind dispersing larch needles everywhere.

Yesterday as part of K-24 we first went to Peca. Started in Zerjav, through Crna, past Mihev and to dom na Peci. From there thick fog started, wind intensified too. Around 01h we arrived at top and searched a bit for logbook. Fog allowed 2-3m visibility. Wind force, if it can be called wind, can't estimate. This path direction is bare. 10-20 cm snow from Knipsovo sedlo towards Kumru. Below tree line path bare.

No, that's above the road, at Nonetova hut, where paths from Mežica, Pikovegova and Crna meet.
Also here is a new forest track.

Well to Jakobe you drive past guardhouse. When I hiked last year from there to top the marked path from parking seemed ok. I doubt you went that path, as it's very easy to follow.
Ah, pic is from road above which this rises, right? That's cca 5 min from parking!?

To the top of Peca and back from Mezica or Pristava above Crna you don't need more than half a morning. I look to have always much more walking than driving. For example if I go to Peca I descend to the valley on the other side and back up. Or traverse its peaks. lp.

Today to Peca from parking at Jakobah. Timber removal is in full swing, noticeable especially on the torn-up road. Little space at parking.
Up the secured path, at the top strong cold wind, visibility but excellent. Descended via Mala Peca to KM cave and back to the car.
If you don't mind your car then to Jakobah parking, if so maybe better start is Topla valley (Fajmut).

And some of my pics from Peca and then also from Uršlja.
Start at Mitnik where I got a dog companion who faithfully followed me to the top. He wouldn't go the difficult path so I adjusted and we went up and down the easier one. Windy at top as garmont described but with beautiful views all the way to Triglav.
Day otherwise wonderful.
From Peca I watched Uršlja gora shrouded in fog so it tempted me to go there too. Left car at junction a little before Slemen and then on foot to Križan and top of Uršlja. Of course beautiful to watch ivy-covered vegetation there too. Also windy on Uršlja and in late afternoon just a few people.

07.12.2011. From Zerjav through nicely decorated Crna I headed to Peca. Moon nicely accompanied me to the hut on Peca. Towards the top snowflakes started flying. The higher I got, the more it snowed. Wind blew snowflakes across the mountain. Around 01h when I was at top a snow storm raged, accompanying me all the way to Kumra. Despite late hour caring host Marko wasn't sleeping. He was worried about my companion Ales who was ahead of me at every point. Of course with car. Marko invited us to the hut so I changed in the warm. Besides I drank his hot tea. Time always flies on this path, had to go back into wind and snow.

14.12.2011 With Romana we drove to Kumra. A bit interested in Saturday's path "Cez goro k ocetu". Of course conditions change by then. But we headed towards Peca. Started light drizzle. Currently at start not much snow. Before Ledrovce chapel we left road and turned left to forest lane later again left to path. From there path starts steeper up. From meadow fog began persistently accompanying us to top and back. Above tree line wind showed its power. Made already half meter drifts but no obstacles. Quick log at top. Despite bad weather we weren't only at top. During descent we cleaned some branches along path.
