Peca

There's solidly over 2 meters of snow on Peca. Question if any track is made from home to Kordeževa glava. Mostly only ski tourers go there so prepare for a tough trip. No chance by car to Jakob.

Lots of snow all over Peca, but some paths to the hut on Peca and from there to the summit are already trodden, track was made last Saturday. If without skis it's easy to happen that due to windpacked snow towards summit you'll also break trail (recommend snowshoes). You'll definitely have to leave the car very low.

Today I went to the hut on Peca. Start in Podpeči, further not possible with car. Sank a lot, but quite a few of us gathered, so now there's a decent track.

I'm interested in the path from Mitnek to the hut on Peca, if possible at all with the snow amount.

thanks

Today on Peca. Start at Najbrž. To 1800m snow soft, further to summit ok, here and there sank. From ~1900m to summit fog and strong wind, couldn't see 10m. Towards and on top blowing nicely.

We also started from Najbrža today.
Early in the morning the snow wasn't sinking yet, later the walking was real torture because there is really a huge amount of snow. Since we were properly equipped, at the junction we headed towards the secured path. The cables were of course hardly visible at all, so we only encountered them about halfway. We crossed some gullies, but the conditions for crossing were bad due to drifted snow, so we turned around at about 1950m.
We returned, leaving the summit of Peca for next time.nasmeh

Good job, hats off. I had a similar experience about a month and a half ago, turned back at the same spot alone but then it went fine to the summit, it's a pekjlenska tour since the former start is in Mušenik. What about the other path from the hut up, any track?

As far as I can see from the picture, from Mala Peca to the signpost there is no track, I mean towards Topa, is that correct?

Yes, true. No track to Mala Peca. Also nothing walked around the hut.

Has anyone been to Peca in the last few days? I'm wondering if it's still possible to ski and up to where there is still snow?

Yesterday we were there, started from Mitnek. Snow is melting nicely, plenty for skiing, but you won't be able to ski all the way to the carnasmeh

Hi.

For 1st May we're discussing going to Kordževa glava from the mine in Topla. Does anyone maybe know what the current conditions are like on this path?

Here's the May 1st Peca. Topla(Mine)- Knepsovo sedlo-Končnikov vrh-Knepsovo sedlo-Kordeževa glava-down gullies-Mala Peca-Topla. Surprisingly little snow, on Austrian side walked all the way on southern snow. Up there you have to cross one or two snowfields but nothing dangerous. On top quite windy. Climbing path bare and dry, only in first two gullies still snow drift, same for all gullies on way back to valley. Peca awaits you.mežikanje

Tomorrow I'd go to Peca. Is there still any snow up there? Which route do you recommend?

Hi!
I don't know the road conditions to the upper parking lot, so I advise you to start in Podpeča. There might be some snow patches on the secured path, so I recommend that you choose the right (easy) variant at the junction above the saddle.

Based on the view from Uršlja gora, you can expect only some small snowfields, which are definitely not difficult.

The climbing route also won't be problematic, see pictures 5 and 6 above from my first May attempt from Topla over Knips up and over the climbing route down to little Peca. As Močerad said, some snow patches here and there still, especially in canyons, otherwise bare, especially Slovenian side. Austrian side still has quite some snow. You can tackle it from Topla or Podpeča whichever suits you better, but for a real tour from Mušenik or Mežica.wink

Hello.

I came from mb...direction crna...then I followed the instructions for the route Jakobe - Kordeževa glava (Peca) (climbing route).

http://www.hribi.net/izlet/jakobe_kordezeva_glava_peca_plezalna_pot/11/665/2555

With the car I reached the parking lot as mentioned in the description. Then on foot to the summit. No problems at all. Very easy route. No snow!
