Yesterday's ascent to Peca outweighed the cold wind with views of near and far surroundings, and the hut was opennasmeh.
It was said to be open every nice weekend, otherwise info at PD Mislinja.

Peca also had great views today over all of Slovenia and much of Austria. It was quite a bit warmer than in the valley. I set out from Mežica, where it was cold. At the hut I sunned myself in short sleeves, from Mala Peca up even warmer, real spring, on top a light cold wind. Very few visitors, I met only 4 people. Less snow than last week, trees still on the path but branches cut so no big problems to pass. Path well trodden. No one has gone the climbing route yet, no tracks visible from Knipsovo sedlo to Kordeževa glava.

Thanks Domch for detailed info, nicely described conditions mežikanje. Do you know if there's a track from Topla to Mala Peca zavijanje z očmi?

Towards the hut yes, towards compass and junction to Mala Peca no. But still less than 500m to bushwhack, not too bad mežikanje

How is it from the guard post with Tito's picture?

Hello.
From the guard post (parking) it's well trodden all the way to the hut. From the hut onwards, the same. No need for "winter gear".
We went this way on Sunday (1.12.).
The path is without peculiarities.
Enjoy, it's nice nasmeh

Ciao.

From Karavla towards the hut it's first bare ground, then a bit of frozen snow and then a nice track to the hut. On the way you need to cross circa 15 fallen trees. Otherwise it's a highway to the topnasmeh

Among the route descriptions for Peca there is no starting point Karavla, so I'm interested which path is from Karavla or where it starts?

When driving to the Jakobe starting point you'll notice karavla by the road with Marshal TITO picture on the wall, if "the others" whitewashed it then you....

In the SFRJ there was a karavla there because it is near the border with Austria. Later Šoferski dom, now the building is closed. You can reach it from Mežica via Šteng and straight at the upper intersection. Other road via Črna, Pristava to Podpeča then to the end up the road and at the top intersection left. Least hassle is simply to leave the car in Mežica center and take the marked path to the top of Peča. 4 hours walking in these conditions.mežikanje

Is the road from Črna to Karavla under Peca dry and without any obstacles?
Best regards nasmeh

Maybe you'll hit some frost, some slush, some ice, but just a sample and even that on the section above from the intersection to karavla, nothing special.
