This morning I went to Peca from the mine in Topla, first to the hut then up the climbing path to the summit of Peca. The path is dry, only at one spot about 10m steep snowfield, but could grip junipers on the side (if desired), the cable was under the snow. Completely without problems. Summit almost dry. Regards

At 7.00 start at Topla, midway break at hut under Peca (sadly closed), at 12 on summit. Wonderful weather, summit company four guys and a dog. Return past Matjaževa cave to valley at 14.30. I'll come again!

A promise makes a debt. After work by car to Jakob. Start at 15:00, via climbing path to summit at 17:05. Return via easy path to parking lot. The whole tour took three and a half hours. Road to Jakob very narrow, maybe not best choice for bigger cars. But it's true that you drive high to the starting point (1407m). Next time from Burjak. LP

I don't know what larger car means to you, garmont? A personal car gets to Jakob without problems. I had no feeling of being cramped in mine. I see a bigger problem in meeting cars... some sections lack passing spots. LP

Larger-longer. When driving towards Jakobs, it's sometimes impossible to pass because the road is sunken on both sides. While driving up, I sincerely hoped not to meet any car. Once you stop on the slope, every maneuver is difficult. At the quarry (pic under no. 5), I got stuck precisely because of the car length (Passat). LP

Strange, my Superb went through without problems. Also at Jakobs we "undressed" bp. I agree, avoiding is sometimes impossible and requires quite some skill in reverse driving. LP

Today I was on the Peca summit. Start guesthouse Matjaž - Hut on Peca - via ferrata to Peca summit. Back same path. Few hikers, weather super for walk, path tidy. Lp Franc

I'm wondering if you can drive by car on the Austrian side of Peca to the lake at around 1700 meters?

If you played around with the internet a bit, you would find out.... - Peca map - siebenhutten - petzenkonig or something else can be found and the answer is at hand. LP

Topla - Knipsovo sedlo - Peca - "very" demanding route - Topla Today my colleague and I went to Peca via Knipsovo sedlo. The path is steep and unmarked but so trodden that markers aren't needed. The route is easy, nice, scenic and in the shade in the morning. When we reached the saddle we climbed to the summit (left of the saddle) - Austria. After a break we descended back to the saddle and climbed to the top of Peca. We returned via the "climbing" path and then back to the Topla valley. At the saddle we went right and partially along the ridge past the hut (we didn't even see the hut) The whole route took just under 6 hours. No special features on the way! lp

When we come from Topla (Fajmut) to Knipsovo sedlo we can go right to Peca, left along the border to Končnikov vrh where the border still runs and only then can we go on the marked path through Austria to Bistriška špica, so that no one thinks that if we go left at Knipsovo sedlo we don't get anywhere else but to Austria.

Today we gathered the will for a long drive to the starting point and headed to Peca (Kordeževa glava). One of the purposes was also to introduce both children to a somewhat more serious but not too demanding secured (climbing) path. We drove to Jakob, then to the hut and continued on the climbing path to the summit, which we reached without problems. We returned via the easy path. The heat was occasionally "relieved" by a thick gray cloud that covered the strong sun and a light breeze at the top. Nice panoramic and, like everywhere else at this time, "flowering" tour. If you fancy something sweet on the way back, try their (Carinthian) specialty in the hut - "kločeve nudlne" - pockets filled with filling from dried pears. Enjoy your meal .

From Bistrica in Austria, we headed towards Knipsovo sedlo, then Kordeževa glava, Dom pod Peco (via climbing path), past Tomaževa koča, Karavle, to Vrh šteng, right to Pikov sedlo, then down to the valley to Brege (Mežica). Of course we didn't forget King Matjaž and beer at the hut. Nice all-day tour or Peca a bit differently.....

In the morning Jakob and I headed towards the hut on Peca. The road to the starting point is catastrophic, but the crowd was still large. The path to the hut is very easy and mostly on a cart track. The hut has very good tea, served in a large mug We went to Peca via the secured path, where there was a big crowd. The weather was sunny, later it started to cloud over. Particularly nice view to Austria and Kamnik-Savinja Alps. We returned via the easy path over Mala Peca to the King Matjaž cave, which is very interesting. It was another nice Sunday trip LP

Was there some bad storm in this part of Slovenia recently that destroyed the gravel road to Jakob? A week ago I drove on it and would rate it as one of the better mountain forest roads (apart from the fact that it's very narrow and I really wouldn't want to meet anyone on it).

Tomorrow I plan to head from Planina Luža or Planina Zg. Luža to Bistriška špica and Končnikov vrh. On this website the route to Planina Luža is described only from the Austrian side. Has anyone reached the starting point (Planina Luža) by car from the Slovenian side and knows a good spot near Koprivna where you can leave the car? I'd rather leave it there somewhere and walk half an hour to Planina Luža than drive another hour through Austria...
