Stingray, just go via Koprivna, no problems with parking...in the bend where the path to the border crossing is, there's almost always enough space to park. Then 10 min to pl. Luža. The car can also be left at several places lower down along the road. LP

Great. That bend right on the border and not far from Planina Luža I spotted right away on Google Maps as an ideal spot. Didn't know how wide it was nasmeh In the worst case I was gonna park in front of the Kumer hut in Koprivnica otherwise, but now I'll drive the car right to the border. Thanks.

In Koprivna I easily found that parking lot right on the border from where there's also a nice cycling path to Planina Luža. The path itself to the parking lot is nicely done and excellently drivable. A few more pics from the path:

Today to the dwelling of King Matjaž, whom not even our family visit disturbed. He's still sleeping....Trail start from Jakob, to which the road is in satisfactory condition, quite a few cars in the parking lot testified to that. Above the hut we climbed to Mala Peča from where we admired our today's goal - Kordeževa glava. A pleasant path followed to the junction, where my father, son and I went via ZPP, wife continued with daughters on the easy path to re-meeting at the saddle. ZPP path is really nice, sweet, but short. Path excellently marked, even better secured. At the top rewarded with wonderful views into sea of low clouds, gaze rested on the peaks. Definitely recommend to all, of course also families with kids. Best, Andrej

Yesterday in pleasant company of four girls wandering around Peča. First by car to Jakob, to which the gravel road is exemplarily maintained. Then on foot along the track to Dom na Peci and after tea onwards to the summit. At the saddle below Mala Peča strong wind surprises us, but then in shelter of larches and rocks it calms. Turn left to the climbing path. Along the way a few cm of wind-blown snow, so slippery in places, but we climb under the summit without major issues. Protections in excellent condition, snow towards top no more than 10 cm. A bit below the summit of the climbing ridge strong wind blows and whips us to the top and good part of the way back. At top formalities - photos, book entry, stamps, then dash to rock shelter below summit. We treat ourselves to tea with some refreshment, then back via classic to Dom na Peci. En route decision to visit King Matjaž too and at saddle turn right towards Mala Peča and his cave. Since even four lively princesses couldn't wake him, we leave him in the cave to sleep on (how sorry he'd be if he knew what he missedmežikanje)), we to Dom na Peci for well-deserved goulash. Merry crowd at hut celebrating birthday, even treat us a bit. Catch last sun rays on terrace, then back to Jakob and home.

Does anyone know the current conditions over Knipsovo sedlo? (is the path trodden, are crampons needed)

peakson31. 10. 2010 08:15:12
Yesterday it was very "spring-like", crampons were not needed. Footprints!... towards the summit to the saddle and on the flat to Kordež quite deep. nasmehDescent via the easy path to the hut and further muddy-mushy - caution is not superfluous.

Today we headed to Peča, start in Topla to Knipsovo sedlo, from there left to 2109 m Kočnikov vrh then back to Knipsovo sedlo and on to Kordežova glava. Descent via secured path and further over Mala Peča back to Topla valley to the mine. Path to Knipsovo sedlo dry, further some snow a bit frozen but no issues. Secured path also dry as is the rest to the valley. So take advantage of nice weather and visit Peča.

Stankoju, your photos were just "yummy", so yesterday morning's euphoria from the dawn on Peca and visiting King Matjaž was even greater ;-) Gorgeous weather, temperature for shorts and short sleeves and wonderful views. It was almost a bit kitschy... I'll come back to this corner of Slovenia :-)

Today I was on Peca-Koprivna-Bistriška špica-Končnikov vrh-Kordeževa glava. Weather fantastic, almost ideal. Sun in abundance, almost no wind, snow just a sample. Adding some more pics.

Snežnik lovers (43 souls) went around Peča on Saturday and Sunday organized by Janja and Slavko, hut keepers at Snežnik hut. Start on Saturday from in front of the refreshment place at Matjaž in Podpeča. Weaker walkers needed a good two hours to the home under Peča. We went on a very steep path past Tomaž's hut. At the hut, half-hour break to catch some air. Then to the top of Kordež's head via climbing, a good hour and a half. Descended via easier path to the home where we slept. On Sunday descent via slightly easier path past Tomaž's hut, old military sentry, Najbrž and to the refreshment place where the bus was waiting. Saturday weather you can only dream of, Sunday cloudy, foggy and a bit rainy
