Planned removal of Aljaž Tower from Triglav

Dear Sirs! The Aljaž Tower has already in those distant times of Aljaž become a synonym for Slovenianhood, for the Slovenian word, for the Slovenian man, for a clod of Slovenian soil, even though rocky and useless. The magnificent recordings made on the eve of the solemn declaration of independent Slovenia, when the Slovenian flag fluttered next to this Slovenian symbol on top of Triglav, awakened feelings of immeasurable devotion to this beautiful land under Triglav in all Slovenians. Many Slovenians at home, even more those in distant places around the world, shed a tear at this, no one remained indifferent to this recording at the "tower". Therefore, in honor of the noble Slovenian Jakob Aljaž, Slovenian women and men who voted for independent Slovenia and all its citizens, we must not allow this noble symbol to be removed from the top of Triglav with this despicable act. Friends of Triglav publicly call on the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, Mrs. Majda ŠIRCA, not to allow the revocation of the decree on the protection of this cultural monument of national importance. With the same request, we publicly address the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Danilo TÜRK, and the Prime Minister of the RS, Mr. Borut PAHOR.

Will we really "baptize" our children and grandchildren in the "Ekar" tower instead of Aljaž's? How far are these self-proclaimed "owners of the Aljaž Tower" willing to go just to charge entrance fees to "mountaineers" who visit museums instead of mountains... This website does more for lovers of Slovenian mountains than PZS.

Yes, Ekar and the gentlemen around him obviously don't know the history and pride of the Slovenian nation, this is also confirmed by his statement for 24ur.com when he compares the Mona Lisa picture with the tower, because the picture belongs in a museum. But the tower should still adorn the top because as it is, it belongs there, not a model, and the fear that it will collapse is unnecessary. Good proof are the friends around him who help it defy time and nature, so let it stay like that. :

What if they also shove the cross from Škrlatica into a museum? Then we won't even need to go up there!

Jakob Aljaž fought 114 years ago with the then German authorities so that he didn't have to demolish the tower, which was already then the pride of Slovenes, now the Slovenian authorities will demolish it, shame that has no equal, no wonder we have problems with neighbors if we don't know how to appreciate our own pride. Full support to "TRIGLAVSKI".

Disappointed, there's nothing wrong with that in this case, because politics is the one holding the scissors and cloth in its hands... and we can only appeal and hope that it has enough sense and awareness to stop the stupid ideas of PZS....

Let some mountaineer who knows about sheet metal thoroughly inspect it and then publish what urgent maintenance work is needed and let PZS do that maintenance work and not think about relocation

Instead of making a copy of Aljaž, they should rather make a bronze life-size monument of Ekar and put it at PZS. Ekar into the museum.

Almost my whole life, over fifty years, I've lived outside Slovenia. All these years and every year more, I feel longing for the mountains that a week of vacation doesn't soothe. Every morning I look at the webcam picture from Kredarica and think of Triglav summit. Great desires to climb Triglav, but unfortunately I haven't realized it yet. I'm convinced that Jakob Aljaž's feat, which has historical, fateful meaning not only among Slovenes, has established itself as a unique example of patriotism. I believe that over all past years the tower on top of Triglav has grown and rooted not only in hard rock but also in the emotions of all conscious Slovenes and it will proudly stand there where it is and belongs even when my great-grandchildren gaze into the heights.

For the museum they got European funds too, in exchange they probably promised to put Aljaž tower in the museum, now they have to realize it. Ekar should be dismissed from PZS leadership and put him in the museum. I'm absolutely against moving the tower even though I haven't been to Triglav yet. Greetings to all advocating for Aljaž tower and full support to Triglav friends.

The tower was placed on top of Triglav and there it should stay. If time's tooth gnaws it, but NOT according to Triglav friends' assurance (which I believe), let it wait there for glorious end. But put replacement in museum.

I suggest Ekart make himself a concrete replica of the tower and carry it up if he dares.

I fully agree that the tower stays up there as it is. If the tooth of time gnaws it over many years and one day it's gone.... everything in life is transient. Then let descendants make a copy and bring it up. Easier for them than for Jakob Aljaž. Money for this madness let PZS allocate for Dolič hut renovation. More useful.

I'd suggest the administrator put a poll on Hribe.net against removal of Aljaž Tower.
