Alesko is right, let's talk about mountains, not to look like some crazy politicians.

More apt here would be a discussion on whether such a violent intervention in nature, like building a ferrata over the most impassable part, was really appropriate. Especially given the old path was even after the landslide fully OK and normally passable. Obviously most don't know the landslide took a total of 5, at most 10 m of the path where it crosses the scree, on a relatively little exposed part, and soon after the landslide the path over that scree part was newly trodden. If markacists had tackled it with pickaxe and shovel, they'd fix it perfectly with 100x smaller investment than the ferrata construction. So much for recession and nature protection.

Of course you are fully acquainted with the geological state of the landslide to give such a substantiated assessment of the mountain path relocation.

Given the bureaucratic complications accompanying such a path relocation, I think markacists would rather have done a shovel-pickaxe system, but there was surely a justified reason that they didn't go for it.

Normal that PD Radovljica first used a geologist's on-site inspection, who gave an assessment of the soil and rock porosity state and an estimate of the fracture progression speed in the harsh mountain climate. What they routed on compact rock is surely the best permanent and safe solution. Some make bau-bau out of the short secured wall section, which is the spitting image of that over Turnec Šmarne gore, if the latter isn't even harderzadrega.

Just so they drill zavijanje z očmi all praise is deserved by markacists who do it for beer and sausage... One more of the few who do something free of charge. The rest are logs that we sell together here on the forum. Obviously they sell well given that you are all orange around the mouths. This bau-bau I gotta see nasmeh

@viharnik, I feel that you rated that Turnec pretty well, probably the difficulties of one and the other are somewhere close.

It reminds me a lot of the climbing path on Grmada too, but for now I can only judge Razor's novelty from the pictures. jezik

In the first part of the mini via ferrata to the summit part of Razor the overhanging section is really similar to the final lojtrca on Šmarka, the rest isn't. On Razor the via ferrata is much longer, steps are more spread out, the overhang is bigger too. On top of that there's a lot of scree above it which despite caution we can easily send to those who might be behind us. Previous comments about this path are quite varied. Of course you can get up with a safety kit or without, helmet or no helmet, probably even with sneakers. But the one who is responsible enough to himself and others will take the PZS recommendations for this path very seriously.

@bagi,
I like your comment, simple one that says it all. Of course the photos too.
First approachers have already enjoyed the charm of the new path, some of us will wait until next summer, if it is given to us.

Hello!

Well, let me add my little bit too, for my opinion. This Razor won't be physically as long as it is now. Winter will do its thing again and reshape it.

LP and safe in the mountains!

These pics have really excited me. Gotta go try it!

Glad to see anti-ferrata mentality in Slovenia weakening and that maybe soon a turnaround comes and Slovenia joins such developed countries.

Via ferrata developed like in Austria, Switzerland, France,...

I was afraid of such an answer.
Every development has good and bad sides. I'm afraid there are more bad ones here.
Don't get me wrong, I've tried some nice via ferratas abroad, but I don't want them in our mountains at all. Especially not in the high mountains, which we have too few of to desecrate them like that.
But I understand those who want via ferratas here too, however I think via ferratas could be routed in the mid-mountains along various walls, if they must. Especially there where there won't be too much negative impact on the environment, because via ferratas usually have a lot of visitors.

That's right. This via ferrata is completely unnecessary, the old path is fully usable. So what if the gully is collapsing, at least 50% of paths in Slovenian high mountains have such spots, will you close them all now and string up cables straight to the top instead? I don't know what motives PZS has, but TNP's principles are certainly very interesting: heaven forbid someone rides a bike on a mulattiera, he's treated as an environmental criminal, but here it wasn't a problem to give consent to haul 300 kg of iron up the mountain with helicopters and "decorate" it with it forever. Of course, several helicopter inspections with all possible delegations were needed beforehand, burning tons of kerosene in the sensitive environment for that purpose. But most here don't care about all that, main thing is to have your own ferrata so you can proudly post your portraits on hribi.net, how you, adorned with SVKs, bravely climb from peg to peg above dizzying precipices. But for Razor, most really don't care much. Pfeh!
