Razor

Just a short remark. Today we went to check the new path to Razor. The crossing is nice, path well equipped, tour great, weather super. But let me say one thing: the demanding section is very short but quite steeply exposed. In reality, though very short, it's a proper ferrata requiring proper gear. One spot even slightly overhanging. And yes, I've said at many paths that via ferrata kit isn't needed. Here it is, period.
I think Razor will now be one of the trickiest SPP points. But ok, you gotta handle those too if you wanna hike all major Slovenian peaks...

@jax,
lucky you who could use the sunshine on a workday for such a nice tour. But no photos?

All with a head instead of a pumpkin will bring the self-belay kit and use it too.
For own safety, namely.

Nothing's mandatory, but sometimes something's recommended too. What, where, how much - everyone decides based on their own skills. PZS issues recs for general public.

Janez - you said everything about yourself right away.
Zebdi - I agree with you, but jax wrote that a self-belay kit is needed, so I'm waiting for his response too.

ms primoz, jax did write that one part is properly steep and even slightly overhanging ... Isn't that enough said?

ms primoz, I'm glad you understood the answer and will have the self-belay kit with you.

primož, I correct myself. As far as I know, there won't be any police patrol up there checking equipment. As for the rest - go up and see. It'll be fine?

Of course someone would post a photo up there, god forbidzavijanje z očmi. On those from the PZS side it's hard to assess the difficulty... Best regards!

I think you exaggerated a lot with your rating...nasmeh But don't take this as a mean comment.

Depends. I have to admit that now I can hardly remember any approach (marked of course) to a peak around here that would be as steep as this one. Especially among those without an easier descent.

Is this supposed to be the only path to the summit or will they fix the old easier path too?

jax3. 10. 2013 10:53:21
As far as I know, it will be the only one, at least marked.

It doesn't look that scary to me either, although I allow for the possibility that the photo is a bit misleading. Can you maybe compare this spot to the chimney in Kopiščarjeva on Prisojnik, to that notch on the path over Kalški greben to Kokrško sedlo, Kanjski preval towards Bavški Grintavec or to that steep section on Dolgi hrbet?

jax3. 10. 2013 11:05:36
Of the mentioned ones I've only been to Kanjski preval and I think it's quite comparable, of course with the difference that you don't have to descend over Kanjski preval.

It doesn't matter at all whether it's "difficult enough" for using SVK - whoever wants to use it, will. And if they get up, they'll get down too! Why should the path down always be easier? It's precisely by having to return the same way that we test our desire for the summit (or if we know how to turn back in time)!
