Yesterday 10.9. on Škrlatica from Vrata, path OK, maybe a bit slippery in the morning to bivouac IV due to dew, bivouac full of Czechs and Slovaks. Parking in Vrata full despite Monday and September, gotta use nice weather. Nice views from the top rewarding the effortnasmeh.

Really nice path to Škrlatica, expected it harder. Snow just traces in some shady spots, no problem. Czechs kicking stones, so a mountaineer lent me his helmet on descent... Thanks nasmeh Views along path and from summit excellent velik nasmeh

Dear Žiga!
I recommend buying a helmet - the price is ridiculously low compared to possible consequences.

Hello,

since I have Friday free, I planned a Fri-Sun hike.
Start: Zadnjica
Goal: Škrlatica

Plan is to go to Škrlatica on Friday and via Dolkova Špica overnight in bivouac on scree. Next day another mountain towards Zadnjica where I return e.g. Stenar,...

Mainly interested if first day feasible? Fitness no problem.

Also if Pogačnikov dom at Kriški podi open. Saw it's open till 30.9. Weekends?

Thanks for advice.

Best regards,
L.

You can detour to Dolkovo easily in the morning, since you pass there anyway via Rdeča škrbina to Zadnji Dolek. Or maybe you planned along the Dolkova špica ridge all the way to bivouac? As far as I know that's pure mountaineering, no marked path goes there.

Afternoon then traverse direct to bivouac from Zadnji Dolek. From Škrlatica summit 2.5h to bivouac on that path. And orientation quite easy, feasible even in dimmer afternoon light. Rdeča škrbina-Bivouac already daytime a bit tricky poorly marked, let alone evening fog...

Per my info Pogačnik closed, but call and check.

By altitude and location, similar to Triglav. Snow, midday ice, requires full winter gear for such a tour and lots of caution and experience. Igor would say neither bird nor mouse; inexperienced though, well nothing special, that little snow patch.

Today I was on Škrlatica, weather fantastic, views wonderful, path quite strenuous, mainly due to snow in the last part of the wall ascent. A bit more caution on the descent and all good.

Is anyone hiking or planning to go to Škrlatica? Given the future weather, conditions would be quite good.

Today conquered our queen.

Drove to Vrata, at start a bit scared if road ok, quickly saw road super for C3(165-tire). Started too early, waited at bivouac till dawn and continued. Conditions super, some rock, grass, mostly snow. Crossing under Dolki ok now, but not long. Wall entry pure rock, little snow, at 3 chimneys well iced. Ridge then softer snow, caution and lots of rock gripping, ice axe not much use here. Super tour, can say not too hard, just watch out. On Škrlatica probably now few hikers this path, don't know if any. Tracks there, but went to Dolkovi špica. So tomorrow last day this month to go, else too risky, road not drivable my opinion till March, snow coming now.

Maybe someone knows what the snow conditions are like from the bivouac to Škrlatica?

Snow starts already a bit below the bivouac. On the south side of Dolkova špica it's dry, when the path turns under the east wall of Spodnja Dolkova špica the snow cover is practically continuous to the start of the ferrata. Also on the ferrata there's still quite some snow, the cable under the chimney is still deep under snow, likewise the "traverse" ledges to the chimney are under snow. The upper part of the ferrata (above the slabs with brackets) is dry. Snow was very soft on Saturday (15.6.), so we didn't need crampons, ice axe was in hand already for better feel. nasmeh

Please provide information on whether the big April snow avalanche from the Stenar slope, which supposedly took snow along the entire height and width, also carried away or covered the mountain path in the direction of Aljažev dom - Bivak v Rušju on the continuing path in the direction of Dolkova špica and Škrlatica. Thanks.
