Thanks for the reply! Did you go only to Dolkova Špica or further past the notch to Pogačnikov dom? Maybe you know if that path is completely snow-free? nasmeh

On 08.07. we went from Kriški podi over Rdeča škrbina to Škrlatica without winter gear. In between there are smaller soft snowfields which can be crossed with a bit of care, so the path is passable without winter gear unless a freeze sets in; then it would be harder because you would slip on the snowfields.

We didn't go to Pogačnikov dom, but we met hikers coming from there to Stenar, Bovški Gamsovec etc. without winter gear, so I assume the path is passable...

Aljažev dom - Škrlatica - Aljažev dom approx. 8 hours. Heat does its thing, so lots of fluids mandatory, because you can't refill in between.

Yesterday on Skrlatica, I extended the "hike" to Dolkova spica and Kriske pode too. Path was without peculiarities, except in Skrlatica wall one of the slings is torn but pitons still provide support.

On top of Škrlatica, I could enjoy it alone for one hour :)

I continue the path from Dolkova špica towards Križ

Always beautiful Sovatna but still damn.... steep :)

After Monday ascent and descent from Pihovec to Pogacnik hut, where we slept. Got beds without advance reservation. Girls very friendly in hut. Next day decided for Skrlatica. In between visited Križ and Dolkova spica too. Then descended through Red notch. There caution needed not to slip and trigger rocks. Skrlatica was in sun yesterday. Still too hot on top. Descended past bivak 4 in Vrata to start. Met some known politicians on the descent, who were ascending the path. Last part to Vrata like sauna. In kettle. No breeze.

when you start hiking at altitude it's a different tune.

on Dolkovi špica. Behind is Škrlatca, where we are headed.

a few more chimneys and we'll be on the path.

the last section to the summit awaits us.

last year I had fog, this year though....

Did you meet those foreigners (Czechs?) somewhere who at noon were barely halfway to bivouac. Many of them, in several smaller groups. I really felt sorry for some of them...

Mountain rescuers won't be jobless yet. Some are obviously deaf to every good advice. Only a high fine in the form of a payment order can educate them.
UB77, I'd buy only sandals or flip-flops and be "IN". Rescue costs are paid by the state anyway. Regards!

Yesterday (1.08.2018) climbers in the organization of the Slovenian Mountaineering Club Skala did a nice trip to Škrlatica. The path is quite long and strenuous as there is no supply hut along the path. Weather appropriate, a bit hot, views wonderful. Nice mountaineer's greeting.
