Oh, on Saturday 20.7.2013 we climbed from Logarska dolina to the hut at Okrešelj. From there on through Turski žleb to Skuta. Weather conditions were excellent, morning sun, afternoon mists and not too hot. The path is demanding, had to cross some snow patches in between, but all doable without winter gear.

Yesterday (21. 7.) there were still 4 snowfields between the bivouac under Grintavec and Skuta to cross, but nothing special, you can do it even without poles on the steps.

Has anyone been to Skuta recently via Žmavčarje? Is there still any snow?

On Saturday I went via Žmavčarje past the bivouac to Skuta and returned via Gamsov skret to the valley. No more significant snow patches on the route and no gear needed.

On Saturday I was on Skuta from the direction of Logarska dolina. The path is very interesting and varied. Water can even be obtained at two places - Izvir Savinje, below Skuta, where you need to cross two snowfields that don't cause problems. Turski žleb is well protected so self-belaying isn't needed - difficulty is about the level of Slovenska pot on Ledine. But I strongly recommend the ascent via the wall and a helmet on your head. Stones are falling and that's the main danger right now lurking for visitors. The path to Skuta is very nicely routed up the wall and directly to the top. The path is equipped mostly with pegs, holds are reliable, but there's scree on the ground. Up it's a very nice climbing ascent, down it requires all caution and patience. At the top magnificent view and quite a lot of people. Skuta really has a beautiful view, if not the best of all KSA peaks. To the top it's a 4-5 hours walk nasmeh

Yesterday from Žagane peči, via Žmavčarje to Skuta. From Skuta through Turski žleb to Okrešlja and then to Kamniško sedlo. From the saddle nice descent over scree and along the road back to the starting point.

At the top of Skuta it wasn't warm at all, and it was quite windy. In the wall of Mala Rinka I noticed climbers who were climbing, I think, "Vzhodno smer".

In the lower part the path runs mostly on pegs and wire ropes...

Yesterday 18.8. I went again to Skuta via the eastern path. Started at Žagane peči, over Žmavčarje to the bivouac below Skuta and then to the top. Since this year I'm not in top form regarding fitness, that was the only goal. Weather perfect with nice views, calm without wind as if ordered. No excessive crowds, fewer people than expected. Enjoying the path mostly alone so nicely slowly with frequent stops admiring nature and views. Descended via the western path towards Kokrško sedlo but since I forgot money in the car, no radler velik nasmeh

You can spot all sorts of hikers without gear where needed (falling stones-no helmet), young female hikers in swimsuits zadrega

....it's quite colorful in season. Today regeneration, this week vacation so another trip to the mountains not excluded, a bit shorter than this one. More in the video as always and on the blog nasmeh

Today I went on a hike to Skuta. I started the trail in Konec and continued over Žmavčarija to the bivouac below Skuta and then up the climbing path to the top. I returned to Kokrško sedlo and also I would like to thank the finder of my mobile phone who found it and put it on the door hook at Žagana peč and once again thanks to the honest hiker. nasmeh

Yesterday on Skuta and by the way also on Štruca. Start at Suhadolnik easy and in good five hours to the top. Path is quite long with lots of elevation 1850 m, but very scenic and doesn't drag. Weather fantastic just a bit of breeze here and there, only late afternoon fog on peaks.
