Yesterday it was already melting hard. The climb from Veliki Podi to the ridge needed extra caution, but I assume it's much better today.

Fresh answer nasmeh

. Today on Skuta, started in V Koncu then over Kokrsko sedlo to the top. Morning and forenoon clouds up to ~2100m or bivouac height, higher great weather and views far around. Visited Štruca too. Snow starts ~100m below bivouac but only patches you bypass or step on, no issues. Morning caution if hard patch, but temps today melt lots. Pics tomorrow.

Can I ask here too? Has anyone gone to Skuta via Žmavčarje recently? Snow? It's the south side, but I need info if it's passable without winter gear. Otherwise I'll go somewhere lower. Thanks, lp.

Excellent day well spent. Via Žmaučarje to Skuta, Štruc and Dolgi hrbet. Down to Kokrško sedlo. Snow in the upper part, but the sun softened it nicely. With careful steps it was very nice. Just in case I had crampons and ice axe. Crampons on up for some training, when descending to Štruc, otherwise didn't use them. On Dolgi hrbet one needs to be extra careful at some spots due to slipping.

Mainly interested in snow conditions on Skuta. Last week peaks were quite white (from Kamniško sedlo) and wonder if need anything else besides ice axe and crampons? Rope etc. Small group going.

Are you kidding about crampons-ice axe?

The glacier under Skuta has barely snow for a sample anymore, so it is no longer worthy of the name glacier. The snow has quickly melted in these warm days. mežikanje

Today via Žmavčarje past the bivouac on the "climbing" route to Skuta. Up to the bivouac there is already quite a lot of snow. From the bivouac onwards there is snow all the way to the summit. The snow is already settled, mostly 10-30 cm. Conditions for the ascent are very good. Very demanding winter tour.

If someone writes that conditions for the ascent are very good (thanks, @matic4), it really tempts you up there. Last week I was trudging, trudging,... above Logarska.
Since I've never been through Žmavčarje, I chose this route today for ascent to Skuta. Not much snow below the bivouac, but can't avoid it anyway. Above bivouac it's a real winter fairy tale. Hard snow, sun shining and warming, no souls around,...
For descent I took the variant past Štruca and through the "real" Gamsov skret to the valley (missed it due to chatting).
As someone said: "What a fantastic day!"
