Yesterday to Skuta from Kokrško sedlo, path is mostly passable except for two snow patches, which need to be crossed with an ice axe, but since I didn't have one I bypassed them below on scree, which takes a lot of time and you have to be very careful...

Czech Hut - Mlinarsko sedlo - Skuta
Hello, has anyone been around here recently? Does snow still persist especially from Czech Hut to Mlinarsko sedlo? On 5.8.2014 I'd go there but I'm interested if anyone has any information, thanks kindly.

I was on Saturday (26-7-2014) at Zgornje Ravne above Czech Hut. Only snow patch is here, which poses no obstacle. Further in the wall no more snow.

One snow patch is quite wide, the other a bit less, cca 30m and 15m, both very steep and without steps...

In Koncu, through Žmavčarje to bivouac under Skuta and across Male pode on climbing route to Skuta. Before entry to climbing part there is still longer snowfield. From Skuta also to Štruco and to bivouac under Grintovec. Here first fogs appeared which accompanied me to Kokrško sedlo. Smaller snowfields can be bypassed, so no major problems.

Hi,
can all snowfields (Tinky's pics 10, 12, 17) be bypassed? Would it be possible to cross the long snowfield before the climbing part with poles or do I need an ice axe...?

The snowfield on the tenth pic cannot be bypassed, but there are well-trodden footprints so no big problem. On the 12th pic it's the same snowfield viewed from the top. No need to cross the snowfield on the 17th pic as the path goes past it. Regarding the ice axe, everyone decides for themselves. I had it but didn't need it.

On Sunday I too was out wandering in KSA. First I planned to go via one pathless area but then changed my mind because the rocks were wet from the previous day's rain. So I headed to Skuta via the path I like best. Over Žmavčarjev to the bivouac and then towards the summit. Two snowfields need to be crossed under Skuta. The snow was softened and footprinted so no problem crossing. The ascent to the summit without issues, aids in good condition. Lots of people on the summit and the other peaks were also very crowded. Haven't seen so many people in KSA for a long time. Descent over Škrbina but first a hop to Štruco. Slowly towards the bivouac under Grintovec. Fog came which spiced everything up, quite cold but still nice. Short stop at the bivouac which now also has a stamp. Towards Kokrško sedlo where another short stop for refreshment. Return to the starting point in Kamniška Bistrica. Otherwise probably the last such high tour for this year as yesterday I had a work accident. Fell off the roof, luckily all bones intact, just some scrapes and a strong blow to the thigh muscle. The mountains will wait until next year, in about two months probably back in the hills.

Some photos from today's ramble in the Kamniks namely: start KB(at end)-Skuta via Žmavcarje-Dolg hrbet-Grintavec-Kokrško sedlo-start. Weather ideal for walking (for ascent), on Grintavec fogs were already swirling, on descent from saddle to valley I got a cold shower... Few hikers so all the more diverse animal encounters.
