You photographed a melanistic viper, which doesn't have the usual pattern, but is black.

There are many black vipers in the Logar Valley area and on its ridges. Brown ones are hardly seen. But I saw a similar one on Zapotok pasture too.

There are huge numbers of black vipers in the Julian Alps area from Porezen to Črna Prst and beyond, in the hills around Bohinj, in the Polovnik area and also in the valleys around Bovec and in the entire Soča Valley. We find many in the foothills of the Julian Alps too...

On the way to Mala Tičarica. It was of the shy kind, it quickly disappeared under the rocks. If anyone knows what kind of snake it is, please write...

My non-expert opinion is that it's a classic viper

This one (100m after Čez brežice pass) was hissing like a punctured tire, because I probably unknowingly touched it with a stick - it was right by the path. A bit below Plešivec summit I saw a real big one, but couldn't photograph it.

It could be at Bohinj lake beach too, but not exactly on the beach, but a bit further away.

Its bite is barely worse than a bee's. No fatal cases recorded in Slovenia. I have a viper near my field, it eats all the mice and we've become friends....
