Does anyone know the conditions on the Tominsko path these days? How is the snow? Is winter gear needed for the summit ascent? Cheers from Zagreb

Yesterday afternoon we set off from Krma towards Vodnikov dom, but there's still quite a bit of snow below Bohinjske vrata, so we turned towards Planika. At Konjsko sedlo we went along the snowfield towards Kurica, because it was too slippery on snow, which caused us a lot of trouble (the passage is very narrow, so we had to drag backpacks behind - recommend detour towards Staničeva hut and then left to Konjsko sedlo). To Planika there are some traverses where due to snow some caution is needed, but not difficult. This morning the path to Triglav was mostly dry, have to cross snowfield just above the hut, followed by easier section where path also goes over two snowfields with practically no danger, the only place to watch is under the couloir (5 steps traverse), at the couloir itself the ledge is comfortably wide to walk on dry ground all the time. Rest without issues.

You can go back, they'll bring you anyway or carry you. even in sunny weather a shower can form, if forecast bad then nothing to seek.

probably or almost certainly some fresh snow that's forecasted today and tomorrow. Can be icy, otherwise as predecessors already said forecast is bad. Better only Saturday morning, afternoon again showers.

If asking on forums if cancel or go, only one right answer. Cancel. If you can't assess conditions yourself, find data and trust own assessment, then don't go to mountains. From experience I tell you don't rely on advice from strangers on forums or Sunday hikers you meet on mountain paths. Better ask acquaintance you know is experienced mountaineer and unlikely to trick you On forums at most find partial (also not fully reliable) info on conditions and that's it!

On Friday and Saturday veterans' hike to Triglav, forecast not even that bad, if it holds another question. What conditions will be we'll see or we know already.

Until sunday my opinion no way to go Triglav. Maybe very early morning, but imo at least occasionally snowing/raining, foggy, probably some thunderstorm... Nothing up there to do. Better wait for nice sunny conditions.

Conditions on Triglav 11.7, basically nothing special, snowfields on all approaches, new snow mostly melted, caution needed, ice axe highly recommended for snowfield approaches. Weather completely OK, just a tad too cold for this time

Lately everywhere talking that conditions in mountains are bad. To me personally conditions seem excellent, since not even on Triglav the usual crowd. True, conditions are a bit specific and not used to them this time of year. I'll try to describe on some paths I walked in last 14 days. MALA MOJSTROVKA- HANZOVA POT 14 days ago below S wall of Mala Mojstrovka still quite extensive snowfields. Start of Hanzova path heavily snowed over and first 20m of path must bypass. There hit a spot difficulty between II-III. Higher up no more snow, I descended twice from wall top not from Mojstrovka top, so don't know snow conditions on south side of Mojstrovka. Alpinists will manage path without winter gear, those who aren't better wait till snow at path start melts or falls off. TRIGLAV Path from Pokljuka to Kredarica still has some extensive steep snowfields. Path from Krma to Kredarica almost dry, snow can avoid on steeper parts. Towards summit from Kredarica snow to first pegs, similar from Planika. From Dolic and via Gorjanska without winter gear no go. Path over Sedmera on Hribarice still heavily snow covered. Dolic from Zadnjica or from Triglav direction without winter gear inaccessible. Also to Planika still some steep snowfields. SKRLATICA First snow already below bivouac, then to wall entry cross snowfields few times. Insured path dry. If sum up conclusion is we'll carry winter gear to mountains some time more. So no crowds some time more. Few pics from Skrlatica and Triglav: http://gorski.vodnik.alpinizem.net/blog/
