At this traditional ascent to Triglav several guides, rescuers, doctors participate who check conditions on the go and decide on the course of the ascent. I trust them and have no doubt about the correctness of their decisions. Even though the women didn't reach the summit, they probably still got an invaluable experience and enjoyed nice moments they would miss if the ascent hadn't happened.

no, it's for shorts but take a cold drink with you so you don't overheat with all that temperature

@medika77, given that there's 40cm snow at Kredarica (ARSO) the question if winter gear is needed for the summit is a bit nonsensical.
As for the 100 women to Triglav I agree with the glider guy. It's a logistically and organizationally quite demanding project and hard to just postpone by a week. Many guides are involved and many have other plans next week.

medika if you're experienced in such conditions, you'll definitely make it with gear.

Hi. I just spoke to the hut keeper at Planika, she said 4 just returned and didn't reach the summit. Better wait a couple more days then depending on weather. To Planika supposedly normal to get there.

@isabel23: in such cases it's best to call the hut, you'll get the most accurate information. If the hutkeeper says four didn't reach the top due to snow, then it's probably really sensible to wait a few more days or check again at the hut. Sure lots is possible, but sometimes it's still better to wait for good conditions.

@redbull But seriously, aren't you a bit too optimistic? Now up there about 40 cm snow, in three days bare at 0 to 5 Celsius?? Not saying you're wrong, but I'm a bit skeptical.

Maybe you don't know yet, fog clears snow fastest, better than sun.

@rb No, then maybe it really will go, since chimney is really well sun-exposed.

Thanks @Zebdi and @redbull From Planika they said still lots of snowdrifts towards Triglav and don't recommend ascent. They say snow melts fast. Rgds
