Extremely irresponsible would be too mild a word. Don't know if they really meant to take them up in such conditions? Utterly weird...Couldn't they postpone for a week?

redbull & carniolus: not that I'm defending the organizers, but have you ever tried organizing a trip for say just twenty people, then a couple days before try to shift it a week? Now multiply by five, because it's a hundred people plus logistics, you think it's just someone decides on Wednesday to move everything a week and done? Easy with one car, but such a tour can't simply be moved, it's planned weeks and months ahead... so please have some understanding, guys had no choice, try or not take women at all.... for some reaching Planika is already a lot...

The decision to return without ascent is the only logical move, safety always first, time for repeat ascent in future years more than enough.

I have two such at home: one was in this group that reached only Planika (Igor will say more - he was among guides), the other has the wish ...
This year probably harder, for next year open s.p., we'll arrange clients to Kredarica/Planika, you take girls up-down. And a prusik with you so you can after their a...

I stand by what I wrote. In such weather to Triglav with these women NO ONE GOES. Basta! Who did this benefit, I don't know. How many experienced mountaineers were there that weekend? Hands up! How many of us would be there with nice autumn weekend? Huge number.

@Carniolus: no offense, you can see you don't get what it's about ... this ain't regular hiking tour or trip by some club or private. It's traditional 100 women hike to Triglav, lots of organization, media coverage etc behind... so no much choice: cancel or try what you can. Pretty sure guys already on Pokljuka knew no summit due snow, did best possible, got women to Planika, partied bit there and safe down. What's wrong with that?

This year the weather screwed them. If we look at the weather on Triglav in this period in 2011, 2012 and 2013 we see hikers were at the top in short sleeves ... and sunshine for export  this year we have four seasons ... kind of like this:
winter - spring - autumn - winter.
And two states: raining - not raining. Higher up even more ...

If a private group went up in such weather everyone would probably condemn them, saying what are you doing going up in that weather.
To me the most "interesting" is that the media (the magazine as organizer is one of the loudest) keeps warning to avoid high mountains in bad weather or forecast and to postpone trips. And then they don't follow it themselves. True they didn't drag them to the top but still. If it doesn't work, it doesn't. It wouldn't be the first thing canceled and probably not the last. I'm sure this hike was already canceled or postponed.

Making a mountain out of a molehill.
The tour was in the given weather conditions professionally led completely feasible and safe. Those 100m of snow on easy terrain below Planika just spiced up the snow hike . The goal they of course adjusted to the larger group.

Tomorrow I plan to go via Krma to Triglav and wonder about the conditions. Is winter gear needed and can one even reach the summit. Thanks and best regards!
