If you have enough fitness as you said, then the easier route from Dolič direction and over Bovška škrbina to the top. A bit less crowded in summer from this side than from Kredarica direction. Route from Vrata and continuation over Prag would also be very useful, as you'd face some protections already before Kredarica. You could assess your fear there already (Medvedova skala). To the Triglav summit it's very well protected, almost too much. Good luck

My opinion is to start from Pokljuka or Bohinj to Dom na Planiki. Overnight and in the morning slowly up. Good luck and safe steps.

As Pantani said. From Planika up is less stressful. Even better to go in a group. Good luck.

Aveyfan, most likely you'll go to the summit from Kredarica, maybe from Planika. You can get there without issues from Krma or Pokljuka. Path from Kredarica to summit is steep indeed but also excellently protected. Most of the time you can clip in and hold pegs, cables and solid rock. Path from Planika meets the one from Kredarica about a third up and is quite "loose", I don't like going from Planika myself although the path is nice and avoids crowds. For me the section from Mali to Veliki Triglav was psychologically most demanding first time, although practically horizontal, but requires good focus. Maybe another tip: I think it'd be useful to use spring days for some safe "cabled" tour, say Gradiška tour or from Tacen through climbing kindergarten to Šmarna gora (Grmada). Here you get somewhat similar conditions and gather almost all needed mileage (balance, technique, psyche), or find out it might not be for you yet. Look at the rock, not the drop, do what's needed and don't think what could happen to you. Make a two-day tour, do the summit ascent midweek as crowds can be an issue since you spend a lot of time figuring how to pass, though it's doable. I'd suggest ascent to Kredarica Sunday afternoon, summit Monday morning when rested, and enough freshness left for descent and back to valley. Don't overload yourself, don't overdress, leave most stuff at Kredarica if your further plan allows. And if due to weather or bad day you don't make it, no big deal. Everything will wait till next time. Good luck.

Everyone advised you well, follow "valun's" advice on cabled tours, I recommend also Hanzova in Mojstrovka. Good luck, you'll make it!

First via ferrata then Triglav. I don't recommend. For start Storžič through Zrelo. Then harder via ferratas. In the book 55 via ferrata routes they are nicely presented. I myself have fear of heights (already shaking on Lojtri), but with gradual transition to harder via ferratas I walked almost all ours. And redbull, believe, it's not that easy for some. We barely got our colleague down from Triglav, one of the nieces was completely terrified too. It depends on the individual.

Hanzova to Mojstrovka is significantly more exposed and airy than the path to Triglav....

Two things. First, to some extent I agree with redbull. I'm not a big advocate of the principle of gradualness either. Sure to some extent it works, but in reality excessive postponement is the best recipe for not getting anywhere. Everyone take a look at your mountaineering careers and ask which ascents stuck with you the most - were they those you prepared for years and did countless preparatory hikes, or those you just decided on at some point and went? At some point you just have to make a decision. And until you're there, you don't know how it'll go. Second, regarding Triglav "not being that easy for everyone" and some barely getting down - yeah, well, that's exactly why the standard rule still holds in the mountains - if you're not sure on the ascent that you'll manage to descend safely, turn back immediately. That's the basic common sense you have to keep. And if you follow that rule, nothing really bad can happen to you.

I know that mormbneki need some colorful afternoon. On this forum you'll hardly find some smart answer, since if you observe a bit you'll hardly find a real mountain lover here.

When you get the feel for climbing secured paths in hands and feet, body coordination, then the fear of the depths gradually disappears too. So you need to go as often as possible on various such paths, from easier ones onwards to more demanding harder ones.

Hello. My first mountain, which I climbed 25 years ago, was Triglav. Before I conquered only some peak on walnut, pear, spruce,... But true was that we kids stayed outside, chased ball, played tag, rode bikes, worked on farms, not fiddling with shitty technology, who'll give smarter advice. So just path under feet, if you have fitness, will,..

Do you read what she's asking here? She has fear of heights. Feels safe only when there's wire everywhere. Whichever path she'll take to Triglav, she'll encounter only pegs or even not that. I've met people who turned back exactly because of fear of heights. But descent for people with fear of heights is even harder than up.

Aveyfan, best is to ask at nearby mountaineering club if they have ascent to Triglav planned this year then contact guide and explain situation and ask if he'll take you on tour or decides to take you another time (without other participants - so he can focus on belaying). That's cheapest solution, more expensive and (usually) higher quality is mountain guide escort. It all depends on the "amount" of fear that height presents to you... but recommend not to go alone on such tour take someone you trust and is willing to encourage you... P.S. Maybe gradual walking on difficult and very difficult paths would help you gain confidence and slowly you'll start trusting your abilities to move at height...

Thanks everyone for advice. This weekend on Šmarni, later also on Gradiška tour, to see how I manage. For "test" Hanzova seems too exposed to me, so I think these two enough and if no problem here then easily try the others listed. I'm going to Triglav with boyfriend, but he takes all so easy like walk on Pohorje, doesn't want to use self-belay gear even, but experience-wise same as me - only doesn't fear heights and no issue for him. So option some colleague comes along or with some club, guide... Depends how I manage now on easier paths. @Supersport wouldn't be bad at all :P @MEHOVO great, pity tractor driving home and field work didn't toughen me enough re fear of heights, right?
