To Triglav?

Hi everyone.
Sure this topic done 100x but I'll ask anyway. In summer I'd like first time to Triglav, cos I love mountains and alpinism. Interested in:
1. Route. Which best recommend for first time? Know only Tominšek from Aljažev dom. Pegs, climbing no problem, even cool
2. Equipment? Helmet, shoes (need real boots or ok trekking like Salomon speedcross 3/Salewa wildfire)
Thanks all for answers

Luigi,

if properly physically and mentally prepared via Tominšek no problem.
Helmet practically mandatory (not just recommended), same "proper" boots.

With footwear everyone should know what suits best, especially summer when snow gone. For me best in tennis shoes with good grip if rock dry.

good luck

Since the topic just opened I have a couple questions because I'd go to Triglav for the first time this year, where can I find organized hikes to Triglav, how much in advance do you need to sign up for accommodations, guide and group?
In our mountaineering club they don't have anything planned yet so I'm inquiring because I really really want to go this year nasmeh

Even if there are no accommodations, you can peacefully sleep that same day at your own home. Even if you're not in shape there's no fear you wouldn't be in the valley that day. Even then, add an hour or so to those six hours. Otherwise no problem sleeping at Kredarica, although there won't be luxury bedding due to the crowd, mostly foreigners.

Good luck

Hello!
I'm interested in how safe the approach to Triglav is now and in the next two weeks. I know there's still a lot of snow but it's wet and soft, consequently unstable. Temperature did its thing, due to this winter there's still a lot of snow at this time. Especially interested how to cross that last ridge a bit below Triglav, which we usually cross from the left side on the approach and how safe it is with this wet snow. I've been to Triglav in winter and many other places, but always in winter conditions with frozen snow when crampons and ice axe gripped well, but in these warm days I don't have experience with Triglav. I'll be very happy for any advice and answer. Attaching a picture of the part that interests me most (picture from this winter).
Good luck everyone

I'd go myself with friends but that one fear that something might happen... even though I hike a lot in the mountains, walked all Kamnik-Savinja Alps, almost all Karavanke but Triglav that little fear or because others who went up with fear of heights scare you velik nasmeh

Now - I don't know exactly what it means that you walked all Kamniks - but if among them were also Turska gora, Kočna, Dolgi hrbet and similar, then you're more than ready for Triglav.

@last: if you've done some serious tour in KSA then the path to Triglav will be quite boring and 'uninteresting' for you - plus the crowd..
Personally, instead of organized PD 'expeditions' I'd rather recommend a guide - completely different experience of the tour, personal tips, suitable pace etc.,
Go boldly nasmeh

I see @redbull judging by himself again. I remember when we went with dad in our first mountaineering season to Triglav, it's over 15 years now.

Started around 8am at Pokljuka. Already with little fitness we walked slower than planned times, then plus snack half hour before Studorski preval, rest at the spring below the pass, rest before Vodnikov dom, snack at the hut, rest at Konjski preval, rest at Kredarica and some stop on the ridge and of course at Triglav summit. We arrived at Planika exactly at 19h. Yeah, from 6 hours quickly becomes 11 if no fitness and experience.

Otherwise, if @Hribolazec81 has some experience, go via Triglav Lakes, other paths are really quite uninteresting. Exception are Plemenice, but probably not recommended for first time, unless seen Turski žleb or similar.

For the first time choose a mountaineering club, plans will probably still be planned, plus the leading under the umbrella of a mountaineering guide.

@NYG
Ok, if someone really goes up there completely without hiking experience, it can be a problem, otherwise I have to agree with redbull. Ascent to Triglav is not substantially longer than ascents to Škrlatica, Jalovec, Krn via Korenova, after all Grintovec from KB. And for those tours nobody mentions they have to be two-day. With Triglav it's really the myth of the highest, combined with good alpine infrastructure and above average share of unprepared who tackle it.

You're absolutely overcomplicating.

You're really complicating it. But really if you start as someone mentioned above at eight o'clock and from Pokljuka then it will really be on the "edge". Tours in KSA are a rank harder than the ascent to Triglav.

Good luck

What is on the picture is no problem, just a bit higher at the snowfield you need to go lower. During the thaw the biggest problem is the ascent to Mali Triglav, all else continuing is unproblematic in any conditions. To the Giant you can get in all conditions, just need to choose a good time, above all it's on you with what measure you go for it.
