"Zappa", given that there are still winter conditions in the high mountains, take appropriate gear and that passage shouldn't make trouble for you. Based on your experience, you'll assess conditions on site and continue the ascent or turn to the valley.

Redbull, the picture shows a snowfield. Taken a few meters below Triglav summit, track runs directly over the snowfield. Avoid that, for the rest now no problem, snow melting fast, in traverses cables are out.

Hi. We want to have a short trek to Triglav via „Bambergova pot“ and spend the night in Triglavsky dom. We want to return to Aljazev dom via either Prag or Tominiskova pot. It is our second time on Triglav. However, we have a couple of questions: 1. What is the situation on the Bambergova pot – is it free of snow/ice? Would you recommend using this way? 2. Since Triglavski dom is closed, is it possible to contact meteorologists whether we could stay there anyway? 3. Is the route via Prag/Tominiskova pot ok (free of ice)? Thank you

All roads are now even snow, but they are passable with proper equipment. Tominskova and Prag are not so easy in these conditions. Triglavski dom is open Good Luck

Maybe this weekend I'm going to review and be able to see the situation through pictures

That would be excellent. We have glacier equipment and we are ready to use it. We do not know the route from Luknja (last time we ascended via Prag and descended via Tominiskova pot).

One more question, since a couple of us are discussing going up there together for the first time, how much does a guide cost if hired?

For that kind of money better buy some good shoes. Waste to visit a buddy once, so he can say he was on Triglav. Expecting hot reactions on this

In France for comparison a guide takes you on a great tour to Pointe de Charbonnel 3752 m above Bessans, with 1900m elevation and crossing summit glacier 550m for only 270€/person.

Have some balls, go without a guide. When we went to Triglav first time, this page and map helped. So for this ascent you really don't need a guide, unless someone in group fears exposed walls and needs extra protection. L

Why not a guide? That's what guides are for, to safely bring you to the summit and back to the valley. During the trip you learn your abilities and also get useful and proper tips for later. Much better than from some self-proclaimed guides.

If financial possibilities allow it, this is certainly the best option for someone who plans to climb Triglav only once.

You get a Triglav guide for 100€. Join some mountaineering club that has Triglav planned for this year.

Usually these guides are also experienced Himalayans and during the tour you can listen to many stories about how they fought in the walls. You don't hear such stories every day and everywhere. We need to appreciate them, just like we must appreciate mountain guides to have them. Who else will, if not us mountaineers?!
