To Triglav?

Print
triglavski10. 09. 2009 11:33:19
Since we were not tied to unreliable weekend weather, we went to Triglav on Tuesday, when there was nice clear and sunny weather, views fairly good, the sea is anyway normal to see on such a day. The perfect idyll was disturbed only by a fairly cold north wind, which the next day brought fog around Triglav, so only the descent to Zadnjica followed.

We'll try tomorrow anyway. At Kredarica they say the forecast is not that bad. Otherwise we won't push to the summit, just a trip to Planika...nasmeh

We also plan Triglav (from Krma to Staničeva - Kredarica - Summit - Krma) on Sunday (still hope weather improves) jezen

Until what date can one usually reach the summit without any special winter gear?

Dates are relative. "Up there" decides. Even late October days had fully summer conditions, just the day is much shorter, which is not negligible.

A nice mountaineering greeting!

I'm planning to go to Triglav with colleagues. We all have desire, will and fitness, but one is a bit afraid of heights. Which route do you recommend we take to the summit and then descend (Kredarica, Planika, Dolič).

Hello!

I have a big feareek of heights, so I suggest you go to Triglav via Dolič and descend via Mali Triglav to Planika.

When going from Dolič to Triglav, let the one with some fear of heights look only at pegs and cables and only look down at Aljaž Tower. At least I did it that way (3x).

Courage and good luck!nasmeh!

ccc, if you really have fear of heights, I definitely advise against the venture..

After all it's your decision, but keep a bit of responsibility and reason in your head, because it has (too) often happened that a person with vertigo literally "froze", started shaking, etc. and couldn't take a single step forward, back, NOTHING!! And in the end they had to engage GRS and their volunteers who (once again) had to go rescue irresponsible tourists jezen.

Well take the colleague first on some other route (maybe Turnc), then it'll be clear. Route is short but attractive, has all elements of climbing path. Maybe easier for all then (also for GRS)mežikanje

Can I ask where Turnc is, thanks

Turnc is at the foot of Šmarnogorska grmada, short but quite demanding route. Just right to see if you are or not mežikanje
Route is described on this portal, just need to search a bit.

Hi!

Does anyone happen to know where to check or who to call to find out what the weather will be like tomorrow morning for a Triglav visit? I need only early morning and forenoon information!

Thanks for answers,

Bošta

On Wednesday and Thursday, 9th and 10th September, friends and colleagues did the tour Kot-Stanič-Kredarica via Rž-Planika, here we slept and in the morning continued to Triglav via Mali Triglav, descended via Triglav Notch (leg) to Planika and then further via Kojnski Pass to Krma. Among us we had three first-timers, no major problems, but it is true that we were in fog when climbing to the summit so couldn't see the drops, otherwise the path itself ok.

Hello!

Fear of heights is an individual thing, but it can turn (as you wrote later) into a heavy burden not only for him, but for everyone else (including GRS). I agree; to the mountains with judgment and responsibility. Thoughtlessness is dangerous!

I myself have a really big fear of heights and roughly know where my limits are. (I know I will never climb some mountains (because it would be too dangerous).)

So before a trip I try to inquire (in literature, with people who have been there) how and what about the fixed ropes,...

It has also happened to me that years ago the hut keeper at Krn Lakes told me there's no problem with vertigo to go to Križ. But I turned back, with a heavy backpack I didn't dare on the pegs.eek

My advice wasn't meant that they should "headlong" to Triglav, since he wrote that one is "somewhat" afraid of heights.
I just tried to empathize as one with the same issue (fellow hiker).nasmeh

(Oh I forgot to say; at Dolič we left heavy backpacks (they wouldn't hinder and pull us down) and went to Triglav only with small ones in which we had water and energy bars. Descended via Mali Triglav to Planika and then back to Dolič (to backpacks).)

You can get rid of fear of heights if you want. Gradually, slowly, with a lot of persistence and motivation. I still think that domoljub's mate should first go to Turnc pod Grmado (Ljubljana), where there is an excellent climbing kindergarten. It takes good 10-15 min, but the path is very demanding. Then he can go elsewhere. Good luck!mežikanje

Vrata-Plemenice-Triglav-Kredarica-Tominšek path is today's circular route, which was very windy-, very foggy above Sfinga-, slippery, and no lack of frost eithernasmeh Despite the weather Triglav visit was crowded. Oh, no rain thoughnasmeh But there was good mood and great company, which outweighs everything.velik nasmeh

I think fear can be overcome, but there must be the will for it and from the one who has it and from those accompanying him, they must help him and encourage him and if necessary keep him on belay. But it's true that it's best to conquer demanding paths gradually, to get used to height and exposure, it worked for me and now I have no major problems with very demanding paths. A bit of courage and persistence is needed, and joy and don't forget fitness, which is very important, so recreate as much as possible. I wish you all lots of enjoyment in the mountains.
