Warning to all "weekend" hikers heading up tomorrow and over the nice weekend... Current conditions are very changeable, big temperature differences and fog appears quickly, so unequipped don't venture into the unknown.

Just witnessed a rescue under Triglav, someone apparently fell/slipped in thick fog. Likely fatal.

Good luck!

Where was that rescue yesterday? Which path?

čebejla15. 08. 2019 20:42:06
I don't know if it was exactly a rescue, or rather on GRS it says a hiker found a body under the snowmrk pogled so that's most likely the reason for the helicopter. https://www.grzs.si/bilten.php?pid=47740

Probably. That's exactly why I'm interested in the location...

Is it the missing hiker who "disappeared" this winter on the way from Kredarica to Vrata valley?

That's exactly the case I had in mind!

Some snapshots from yesterday's tour.
We started at 22:00 from Pokljuka and climbed via Studorski preval past Vodnik hut and Planika to Triglav summit just in time for sunrise.
Freezing on top, but scorching in the valley velik nasmeh
Best regards and safe travels!

I used yesterday's reliable weather for a longer tour – from dawn to dusk – in the Triglav massif. My first goal is Očak, then wherever it leads me. I park in Stara Fužina (behind the barrier, at the Vogar trailhead, for which I pay 12 eur toll at the end, even though I barely used the road; parking at the lot before Korita Mostnice is Swiss-style, 3 euros per houreek, except 20h-6h free, only for night hikesmežikanje; I warn two hikers who wanted to park there minutes after me; maybe someone knows the fine if you leave the car all day without paying?) and go along Korite to Voj then to Velem polje and Vodnik hut. The path drags but passes quickly with a brisk step. To Vodnik hut I'm alone, then the "fun" starts, though no excessive crowds on the path. I choose the route via Kredarica, sign the book in the chapel as usual. From Kredarica to the summit the expected "procession", anthill at the tower, mostly foreigners. I don't linger long on top, snap some pics, head to the other side to Škrbina. Traffic here too, but less than on the ridge. From Škrbina down to Pode and, like last few times on this side, visit Lojz. I catch him heading to bivouac, he was on Triglav too, just picking trash accumulated left and right due to crowds. I accompany him to bivouac, chat a bit, sign his book, snack, then down to Dolič, lively there too. I refill drinks, then to Kanjavec. Much calmer here, hikers mostly Slovenes. On the way up I meet Mrs. Darinka (darinka4), chat, photo, wish safe trip. On Kanjavec I enjoy great view of Očak and decide next. Many variants from Kanjavec back to Stara Fužina start, marked and pathless. Weather great, not too hot/cold, no wind, long day ahead. So the longest one, circling almost whole Triglav area on Bohinj side. First down to Hribarice, then Prehodavce, then to Lepo Špičje. I shorten path to Špičje via scree and join marked path where it steepens at Malo Špičje. Ridge path to Špičje excellent (hence Leponasmeh) and panoramic, steps careful as narrow path crosses steep slopes, no room for error. After ups/downs I reach main Veliko Špičje summit. Views superb, mist around peaks adds charm. Short stop/snack, descend to Dolina. Descent starts easy grassy (most edelweiss ever!), then nasty exposed section with scree (like walking on marbles) max concentration needed. Terrain evens, joins main Dolina path. At Triglav Lakes hut I wait in line at spring to refill for last stage. Prefer heights over distance, plus views, choose Štapce, last glance at Dolina, to other side. At pl. Viševnik I decide for Pršivec for finale and last look at circled area, great panorama all around. Would stay but time presses. Initial adrenaline descent (given crowds on Pršivec, wire might help), then (not short) path via Vogar to Stara Fužina. Pay barrier by card (praise!), smile at odd parking logic (for full day hike toll cheaper than parking, <1 eur/hr), drive home.

Today I went to check the road to Krma valley and the path to Triglav (via Planika and Triglavska škrbina), since I haven't been there this year. zavijanje z očmi
Road is as it was, neither worse nor better. Fewer cars at parking than usual this time.
The mentioned path to Triglav well marked and traceable even in dark. I caught sunrise snacking at Planika. No one to Planika, no lights in distance except toward Triglav summit just before dawn.
Good I chose Gorjanska pot to summit, those processions over Mali Triglav not for me. Gorjanska nice, bit climbing, one spot landslide apparently, improvise and pass easy.
Summit crazy already at 8... descend to Kredarica after 5 min. Ridge classic, queues, unequipped tourists, told them off. At Kredarica back pleasant peace, after radler to Krma. That path no issues.

Some snaps from the path to Triglav. From Pokljuka past the Vodnik Hut to Planika. Afternoon summit conquered then bivouac at Planika, next day back to the starting point.
Nothing special someone would say, but first-timers were of a completely different opinion. Whoop whoop, we made it! That's what makes this pilgrimage path even grander. I hope this nice experience remains in their fond memory, ... and perhaps again sometime!

I can't believe the admin fell for the trick and really deleted the picture that seemed controversial to one fanatic...
If you, poor thing, self-censored, that's pretty pointless too...
