I was also up there yesterday. Luckily it wasn't such a "horror" as jprim described (regarding the rescue). A younger mountaineer injured his knee and couldn't descend alone. But the day before a mountaineer slid down the slope about 15 meters between Little and Big Triglav and luckily stopped all battered on a ledge above the abyss. As a reminder of how small we are .... I'm wondering if it's smart to go to Triglav on Tuesday. This website shows nice on Tuesday, just cold.

I hope you're kidding the snow needs to settle a bit first, but this one probably won't settle at all, because it will probably start melting before. Given the intensity of precipitation expected, there will probably be quite a lot of snow up there. I advise you to wait a bit with the trip to Triglav Regards, Jure

Right on Triglav there will be a lottery for Tuesday. Expecting 30-40 cm of snow and some ice at Kredarica heights. Could be some ice below too on Tuesday despite later thaws. No need to emphasize again winter gear and clothing for the coming days, if someone heads to the mountains, of course not before Monday when almost 20cm of snow will fall in a few hours.

On Friday around 1pm we start from Kota. Group of 14 quickly at the spring, continue to Debeleg kamen. From Debeleg kamen to Staniča time passes in cheerful mood. Very quickly at DVS. From there short hop to Kredarica which was already fully booked. Good I reserved a month before... Follows relaxed evening with camp beer and laughter-filled bowls. Maybe we shortened someone's sleep, but partner if you went to Kredarica to get sleep you were seriously mistaken. Anyway apologies again on behalf of all... At 6am up, tea and to the summit. Little group stretches nicely, sister pulls "spur". Summit after 1.5 hours (due to mr. slowpoke) in front. At summit line up first-timers and rope starts singing. Maybe some pitied my "baptizees" at summit but tradition must be. Strongly recommend this baptism 60m 7.6 mm alp. rope (nicely coiled - hurts good... ) After waving descent to Kredarica, watching heli, eating sausages and guzzling radlers... Satisfied over Rž to DVS for one more, follows "Za Cmirom Express". In valley in good two hours at Turkov rov t. Last task needed (crew was thirsty...) searching water in RP stream (unsuccessful), found water approx 200m along stream towards PR. It was really nice, pics this time better none.

Well, from Friday to Saturday it was quite tough at Kredarica, hehe. Good we took it from valley straight to summit and back to hut. Then...... Yes, in the morning at start of path to Rjavina you could feel the "sleepless" night at Kredarica, but already on ridge wind cleared hot heads and then fog helped more activity.

After experiencing such a siege of Triglav, where even Croats wondered how many Slovenians there are, I don't want anything similar anymore, well, I got to know the life I've only read about so far. The big plus is only that we planned Triglav in one day, because if we had to sleep somewhere in such hustle (some even brag about huts), I don't know how I would... And the conclusion of the story, we Slovenians are really something special, but I think more on the negative side than the positive. Safe steps.

If you want to experience peace, it's worth going in autumn when huts are closed... In summer it's not worth going up into that crowd.

freeskies: Exactly so. And the colors, scents, cold mornings and warm days. Ahh, romance at altitude. In summer more or less we hang in the walls, then direct descent, so the crowd just brushes me, which suits me then, to feast my eyes on those bustier female hikers and mountain goats

I agree with you jprim, freeskies and MBrando, maybe it's time to ask - Why does anyone go to the mountains and what do they seek there? If you want to admire nature's beauties, feel its energy, peace, solitude, then that's it. If you just rush up, goal - overnight in the hut and then brag on the forum just so they see it's you and where you've been, then it's a different story.

I must praise jprim and freeskies for their photos from which it's clear they are truly real mountain lovers.

Can someone tell me, according to forecasts, if ascent to Triglav will still be possible next weekend 24-25.9. or better advised against?

@lanica1 Everything depends on the amount of snow falling in the mountains today. Usually snow on southern slopes melts quickly in September, on northern ones more slowly. If larger amount of snow, best to postpone the visit.
