Toll booths on Vršič and in Vrata

"Mako", this story should really find space in one of the national media. You've already done most of the work yourself (official info from all sides).

"The road will open only when COMPLETELY dry (no snow and no ice). Salting the road is not allowed." In practice this means the road will be closed even after 15.03.2025.

It would be interesting to know if the permit for locals and other exceptions is tied to the car's license plate. If not, some will still have an advantage through acquaintances over others who are farther away. Just like it was so far with some barriers.

I'm following the debate on this topic and it doesn't seem to end. ....and nothing will change either. Why doesn't someone file a request for constitutional review of the legality of this decree ?? At least we'll know where we stand. Or members at PZS could initiate it. PZS has the backing of us members, and there aren't few of us, right?

One day someone will fuck up... and smash that barrier. Yeah, you can't go anywhere anymore....

I agree with everything you wrote....but just a bit more thinking...this kind of ,,upside down,, They want fewer tourists, fewer cars, fewer people in Vrata. Sustainability, nature protection, etc. is emphasized a lot.... Yeah, then they should reverse the pricing for access to the valley. 25€ for 1h, 20 for 2h ...etc, those of us who come to the mountains and stay in the valley all day or even a few days, should get the lowest rate. We're sustainability-oriented and don't drive up and down the valley constantly ....I know...illusion but....as for winter, ...instead of talking about plowing and enabling activities in winter too....yeah, closing and disabling....

They don't want fewer tourists, cars and they don't care about nature protection. It's only about as much cash as possible for them. The saddest thing is that PZS holds the bag wide open for them. Aljaž managed to defend the mountains from the dominance of others with different intentions. Our current ones will succeed in the last one closing the barrier and turning off the light

They manipulate you well, but throw logs at each other and point fingers at others. Here the locals have the biggest influence on the decision, then the municipality and the state. If you're smart, don't spend more money in Kranjska Gora municipality, let the local providers think about their actions. As long as the barrier is down off-season, there will be less visitors too. When they raise it off-season, someone else will come and spend money. You really fall for everything the responsible ones tell you. PZS waste of words, I'm not a member, as if they side with them.

Sadly it's true, it's all about money; PZS unfortunately doesn't do enough for us hikers - and for its members ; and as they used to say: "gliha vkup štriha"(People with similar (usually bad) traits like to hang out and understand each other well); hopefully it will soon show in the number of mountaineering membership in the future

The post by ljubitelj gora is hard to read, but he's right - we don't spend a cent in Kranjska Gora municipality, same in PZS huts not a cent.

sla, the problem is you don't even know anymore which huts are PZS today and which are not, or whether societies manage them, or they are rented or have been just mountain taverns for years. So what will you do when you're hungry and thirsty in front of the door? Probably you won't even enter, because you'll have everything in your backpack, right? But it's already like that now...

Matej, didn't you say in the end that this is no solution, that we go elsewhere? As andrejp wrote, if they really wanted as few cars as possible in the valley, the pricing would be different. And we know that "sustainability and green transition" are just excuses for something else. Something we've already experienced.

korl - for day trips, even if they last up to 14 hours, I always have enough fluids and food in the backpack and don't need huts. Every couple of years I go on a multi-day tour, in that case you can't avoid overnighting in huts. The problem with all these barriers is that now we'll drive farther to the mountains - to the Western Julian Alps, the Carnic Alps, maybe even to Austria (which I don't like anyway). "Sustainability and green transition" is just a pure scam for the naive.

"Sustainability and green transition" are the biggest money laundering schemes offered to the world wrapped in cellophane, so that naive people think they're contributing to saving the Earth with their money.

https://www.peticija.online/a/462266 "Dear female/male signatory! Thank you for the effective cooperation, as we have collected an incredible 5365 signatures considering the topic. With this we have all shown together that we care about Slovenian mountains, the further development of mountaineering activities and especially that we believe everyone, not just a handful of rich tourists, has the right to enjoy what nature has endowed us with. We will not allow greed to limit access to public good. Therefore this petition with the proposal that illegal restrictions on state roads in the mountain world be immediately removed will go to the competent ministry, and those responsible for violations will be reported. Thank you, with this I conclude the petition. Ivan Bohnec"

The most interesting part, "those responsible for the violation will be reported" and since the legal system is "lousy" nothing will come of it. For them the currently fairest punishment is that no more euros are spent in the municipality of Kranjska Gora.

Whatever is done is fine, at least we'll know if they take responsibility. Until then some of us stick to what I've written several times, the stick has two ends.

“What have you done to improve the situation?” What kind of question is that? As if any petition has solved anything. For myself I could say that I haven't done anything that could cause the situation to worsen. Otherwise we'll have to get used to some kind of order that's already established elsewhere. It will cost us dearly, but the majority wanted it that way. When I was driving on Slovenian roads today, after a long time I felt the difference between order and disorder.
