Velika Planina

Lately it's so nice in the mountains, "thanks to the one above", that it would be a sin to stay home. Although Velika Planina isn't some hill feat, it's so nice there, that we return to its embrace more and more often.

Veliki vrh already greets us at Kranjski Rak.

The moon also appeared, perhaps it will enchant someone.

On Saturday though mists were still chasing around there and left a silver trace on grasses and woods. mežikanje

On Mala Planina it's always nice - pics from 29.10.2011, when the fog in the valley started and beautiful days in the mountains. Luckily we used quite a few of them.

Velika Planina was bathed in sunshine today, besieged by many hikers who fled the foggy valley. Those who didn't make it today - tomorrow is another day!

On Sunday (a bit late) the family went to Velika Planina, a bit for an outing and taking photos. The younger one stayed home, the older two (4, 8 years) walked without problem. The aim was to watch the sunset and night return to the valley. The kids fully enjoyed it, especially at night when lights do magic. No wind, a bit below 0°C, lots of people, mulled wine guys nasmeh

Today in the morning after two months of fasting I set out on a late autumn tour to Velika Planina. Started from the parking lot behind the gondola and via Dolske Graben, Planina Dol, Planina Konščica to Velika Planina. I didn't know that Velika Planina is divided into several inhabited and uninhabited areas. All are nicely marked. First we arrive at Na Jamah, where I didn't see huts. Then with Zeleni Rob it started. I didn't know that Velika Planina is so populated with huts. There is no end or beginning to them. I know that it was burned during World War II, only two huts remained that didn't want to burn. So everything else was made after it. Never visited Velika Planina before, hence such surprise. Went past Veternica (fenced sinkhole) to Gradišče. Here I at least viewed from outside Preskarjeva bajta-museum and chapel of Mary of the Snow. Back I quickly turned behind Vetrnicami to the right, where there is a shortcut to Planina Konjščica.

Sign for the footpath to Velika planina already some twenty minutes from the parking lot.

The path across Dolski graben takes about two hours.

There is also the chapel of Marija Snežna.

Velika Planina is beautiful and interesting in all seasons and tours of different approaches nasmeh

Today the plateau in fog, strong wind of changing directions and rain. Due to dense fog it was necessary to pay great attention to orientation.
The plateau is increasingly crisscrossed with driving roads!!

As zamet said with words and photos - gorgeous today on Velika Planina. Road from Kranjski Rak to Rakova Ravan is icy and only slightly salted, so we preferred to go on foot, though some cars went up. Nice new signposts all over the Planina area. Not much snow and nice walking, gaiters recommended. Domžalski Dom nicely renovated, and new mulled wine recipe unexpectedly discovered: 2 dl hot sweetened water with slight clove taste = 2 euros zmeden

(puzzle: maybe something missing in recipe?). Day wonderful anyway! nasmeh

Yesterday again gorgeous day on Velika Planina from Kranjski Rak. A bit of caution on the path not amiss, slippery in places...
