For good pics sometimes you need to make an effort a bit. If not otherwise, gondola and chairlift take you two with photographer and gear to the top

The road is plowed to the quarry, higher you can't go by car. Same every winter, at the quarry there's a plowed blockade. lp

Always some expert turns up who wants to drive by car in mountains. Mihc007, camera in backpack and on foot to the hill, if you can't then stay in the valley.

Has anyone gone to Velika Planina from Kranjski Rak? Is the path somewhat trodden? Is it suitable for a winter tour at all?

From Kranjski Rak the road is plowed, but not salted. You can drive normally to the "quarry" with a car.

A bit below Mickina hut more snow starts and it's good to put on small spikes. Especially across Pasje. A bit mushy, a bit crust, a bit windpacked up to knees. Worth it for good tea and sausage with cracklings at the hut  No pics cuz it was night...
